Thurman IMO goes in there and EASILY skates to a 8-4 win over Garcia but only gets a split decision somehow meanwhile Ward gets Knocked down and loses the majority of the first half of the fight and arguably 2 of the last 3 rounds and gets the UD.
Boxing needs more consistency in its scoring system, it seems every fight we get some outlandish scorecard from at least one judge. Last night the guy giving Garcia 7 rounds was ridiculous. Same way Kovalev losing round 10 in the Ward fight made zero sense.
Get your sh1t together boxing....
What's the point of this thread? Many fights are more clear than Kovalev-Ward, and many fights are less clear than Thurman-Garcia.
The point is boxing judges score way too inconsistently for my taste. Thurman narrowly squeaks out a SD win in a fight he pretty much dominated and Ward gets a UD in a fight 75% of people in the industry thought he lost. And the guy who scored it 7-5 for Danny should not have a job after last night. Boxing needs a new scoring system or more judges or something new because the old way sucks.
To answer the question Thurman.
As far as the thread topic, every judge has their own preference whether it be clean punching, aggression, ring generalship or whatever.
The most important thing is that the scorecards reflect what's taking place in the ring and in both cases, that's exactly what happened.
Thurman basically ran the last 3 rounds. If he was up 7-2, that's a 115-113 card. So I can see how the scorecards were a little wacky.
With Ward, the scores were perfectly acceptable. That was a 1 point fight either way. Maybe you can argue the knockdown was the difference or a draw would've been more fair but that's a whole different topics.
It's up to the fighters to win rounds more convincingly and finish the fight in dominant fashion. You can't give away rounds in pro boxing because of the way the scoring system works.
Facts
If danny had gotten a decision or a draw. Then thurman had nobody to blame but himself.

Thurman for sure. A lot of Wards body shots that were winning him the rounds were't as noticable as Thurman's head shots that were popping Danny's head back.
Is this even a question? Ward got dropped early and had to fight his way back on the cards in the second half of the fight.
Thurman controlled the pace of the fight and had coasted the last two rounds.
I had Thurman winning 8 or 9 rounds. Honestly i think Thurman could have almost shut him out 12-0 if he wanted to box carefully from the very start and stick to a strict plan.
I had Ward winning 5 rounds. Even if i could find 6 to give him, he still lost.
Thurman easily won 8 rounds, and some will argue 9.
Ward has a point for winning 7. no more than that.
Thurman won more convincingly by taking the early rounds, not allowing Danny to get any steam up through the middle of the fight and was homeclear during the last 3 rounds which he runtimed.
Thurman was more convincing, and thus deserves a more convincing victory. Whoever had that fight scored for Garcia last night is driving a new car today.
