Thurman clearly won, glad he didn't get robbed. Garcia landed some good shots in the second half of the fight, but Thurman was in control of the fight. He even won some of rounds coasted in.
I had Thurman winning 117-111, but I could see Garcia winning another round, maybe two if being generous. I don't think Garcia did enough to earn a draw and he definitely didn't win.
116-112 Thurman and that is giving Garcia all the rounds that he could have got and I gave it to him.
but in reality, it was not that close!!!
Thurman coasted after round 9. I thought that he could have made a big mistake doing that and it almost happened (SPLIT DECISION).
I scored it 8-4 but I was giving Garcia close rounds because I expected the judges to do the same.
Thurman coasted the final quarter of the bout, his trainer told him had got it and that was all she wrote.
Garcia's second loss, arguably 3rd if you feel Peterson beat him. Only surprise is that it has taken this long for him to drop a decision.
Not like it was a competitive fight...
It wasn't a dominant performance either by Thurman. Garcia showed great defense at times but he failed to land any definitive counters.
During the fight... I was giving Garcia the benefit of the doubt and I guess I was trying to make this fight closer than it was... though I still could see a possible draw (if all close rounds go to Garcia)
115-113 for Thurman was my card.
I had it 9-3 or 8-4 for Thurman. I have no idea how anyone in there right mind could say Danny came close to winning this fight. The shit is disgraceful that a so called professional judge would do so. Boxing will die if there isnt some kind of reform or unified governing body. The scoring is horrendous in just about every fight.
No I don't mean it was boring or anything like that I guess I simply expected one guy to standout and be more dominant.

Yeah I enjoyed it also.
American boxing fans are bordering on pathetic. No wonder the sport is not in a healthy state over there. They were booing in the 3rd Round, its completely ridiculous.

Both are fair comments. Calling American fans pathetic is a little harsh but sometimes I agree so I can't say that it's all together inaccurate.
I almost thought that Thurman was going to punch himself out early and not pace himself properly... But after the 3rd he became more defensive and settled down... I thought Thurman gave some rounds away late...
Danny was more elusive than I expected him to be, but not fast enough... He just didn't land enough or emphatically enough to get the nod...
It would be nice to see Thurman lock horns with Bud eventually..
8-4, 7-5 is the right score imo.
I thought Thurman made it closer by changing the game plan the last 3 rounds.
Fight wasn't that great but it had it's moments.
