You have one guy that is the champion with a not quite so Stellar resume and another who is being touted as a boogie man with an even worse resume. Also in both cases many believe that the champion would be more suited to fight at another weight.
Some people were sold on Williams for fighting absolutely nobody. I had no interest in J-Rock, and the Charlo fight was the first time I was going to see where he's at, and he proved me right that he's no one I should be looking at. I mean the guy had a poor KO % with a poor resume.
This is not the same at all.
First of all Brook going up and down in weight like he's doing is VERY well known as being dangerous as hell for any fighter, and you are asking to get beat up and KO'ed. Secondly, with Errol Spence's limited resume of decent, durable fighters Algieri and Bundu, we saw what he could do power-wise. I was not sold on Spence until recently. Spence feels like the A. Joshua of WW. Limited resume but against the decent durable guys he's fought, you could tell he's a problem for the proven names.
People who feel Brook will win will only say in hindsight how the odds were stacked against Brook. I'm calling it now, the weight, the GGG KO, and fighting a guy like Spence is a bad career move. Hearn/Brook should've picked someone else, like Vargas, Algieri or Guerrero for a quick comeback fight, then fight Spence. Fighting GGG at 160, getting KO'ed then fighting Spence at 147 is just silly.
Reluctantly, i'm going to have to agree with your spot on analysis. It just seems like the wrong move at the wrong time for Brook which is a shame really because it would be a great, great fight between two highly skilled technicians if Brook hadn't previously had part of his face eviscerated by GGG .
Speaking of which. I would like to see Charlo in with the GGG/Jacobs winner asap.
I'm gonna reserve my prediction until I see how Kell looks at the weigh in, I don't think it's gonna be easy for him to make the weight and if he had trouble making weight he won't be able to deal with Spence's pressure, if Brook is on his A game though it's a 50-50 fight imo.
Spence should be very rough on the inside because Brook will try to hold, in the clinches Spence has to make sure his left hand is free so that he can bang on that right eye with it, if he does it's definitely gonna swell again and it can make things much easier for Spence later in the fight.

So, so far this fight has been compared to Calzaghe vs Lacy, Brook vs Porter, Bradley vs Witter, Crawford vs Burns and now Charlo vs Williams.
Is anyone going to actually break down a fight between these two fighters? Maybe base it on their styles and how they might gel in the ring?
Preach! Brits love comparing this matchup to former blowouts to avoid discussing their actual fighter but his flaws are readily visible. Spence fans don't typically compare this fight as often, I'd love to compare and contrast the actual fight with anyone willing

I was one of the few people that knew Charlo was going to easily beat Williams, but this is different both have good resumes, the difference is Kell Brook has been tested before (Porter, Jones, and Senchenko) but Spence hasn't really been tested, everyone who is supposed to test him get's stopped easily, I have to favor Brook in this fight but I wouldn't put money on either guy

Is it just me or is Brook/Spence starting to look an awful lot like Charlo/Williams? | BoxingScene Community
