Floyd plans on matching Jack against "Superman" in his first fight at LHW. . no easy touches, straight to the sharks. smart move? how do you see this fight playing out?
Stevenson (28-1, 23 KO's)
age: 39
reach: 77"
height: 5'11"
Jack (20-1-3, 12 KO's)
age: 33
reach: 73"
height: 6'1"
He "looks good", but so did Evander Holyfield when he lost to Tank Williams.
You can't judge what's left from his reflex, speed and power by the way he looks and his recent level of opposition make it really hard to judge how much he slipped... He hasn't fought anyone top 10 in years now.
History shows that you can hide that you're past prime if you fight lower level opposition(He still looked really bad against Bika and Williams Jr. imo). I think when he steps up again, it will all show up.
I think Joe Smith Jr. probably beats him.
Humm! Stevenson still has a higher notch over all of these guys in the LHW division. Otherwise kovalev or Ward would have jump on the opportunity to face him. Instead, they'll run to pick his title if the title becomes vacant or if they notice a major drop of Stevenson metabolism.
They wont take any risk to hurt their shine right now...
For Badou,he's efficently basic, but all his game is based on one thing he knows well; (if your cardio fell, his wont), he masterised that. And team Mayweather's gambles with Badous' prime, thinking he can extend a fight with Stevenson til the later rounds, hoping Badou could get the best of it.
The problem is, Stevenson always knows who he's fighting, people may think he's a strong one dimensional boxer, because of his heavy left, but in every fights you can almost see the moment when he's figuring out his opponent and make adjustments to lead his one way to the win.
With Smith he wont make the same mistake Fonfara did, by underestimate or overestimate himself, and for Badou, training camp must be focused on cardio, that's it.

By the way look here,
just after his fight on July 29th 11pm he went chilling with Mayweather on July 31st 3pm.
Did he look affected by his recent fight? (no shades on)... Did he?
I think it would be a good fight, a bally move by Jack but that is how you come into a division and make a statement. It is also a good way to get wrecked but he ain't messing around.
An all around very good fighter without any big flaws can definitely beat a "great" fighter. Adonis has a great punch but Jack is IMO the overall better boxer and people shouldn't be surprised if Jack does win.
He gets hit too much! that's ok if you have super-human punch resistance but? he does not possess this ability. His defense is good, its just a simple guard with some body movement now and again. At 175 he would probably beat allot of guys, but up against Stevenson and Kovalev! he may find himself in trouble.
Funny enough though, i fancy his chances against Andre Ward! Ward does not hit particularity hard, and in my opinion his work-rate has disappeared at 175.
He looked bad against Williams Jr ? I think he adapted pretty fast once he knew that Jr couldn't hurt him bad. He showed speed, power and a long gone and almost forgotten inside game that even me as a fan was impressed of ... Oh and Jr was ranked 8th for the WBC at that time ... Didn't make him an A opponent, but hey it was what it was... ;)
I guess it depends how you rate Williams Jr... I don't think elite fighter should catch that number of ridiculously clean shots on that level.
Of course you gotta give Adonis credit for proving he's tough and his chin is top notch(Which was quite surprising to me, I always had that Boone ko in mind) - but can you say it was good performance when you have to dig deep and go to war with second-tier contender?
I'd compare it to Sweet Pea vs Diosbelys Hurtado. Yeah he knocked that guy out, but it surely made De la Hoya feel even better about his chances.
I think the fighters who will look at that fight and say - he's easily to hit - yeah he broke Williams Jr. down but so did freakin shot Campillo - he's not getting away with those mistake against me.
Time will tell and Adonis might surprise, but my prediction is he probably loses next relevant(Eleider, Jack) or even half relevant(Smith Jr.) fight.
Adonis Stevenson wins this fight, i believe that Badou Jack should stay at 168! his stamina and endurance looked impressive vs James Degale. Jack is a good solid fighter, but as a fighter there is not anything that he does GREAT, he is just a good all-round fighter. If you aspire to more up in weight classes, and beat the elite guys within that weight division! you need to do SOMETHING great! Adonis Stevenson in my opinion would be two fast and powerful for Jack! but who knows, Stevenson could slow down overnight....

You talk like he's B-Hop old ... Stevenson started boxing late and wisely haven't "over fight" since he destroyed Dawson... The guy has the shape of a 30 y/o still, and was never really shook up in the last 3 years... Probably near the top of the list for best fitted animal at LHW...

It would be one of Stevenson's best wins. People act like Stevesnon has some amazing resume. He's been living in a sideshow while 175 happened without him.
I wouldn't bet on this one.
why stevenson? ward is champ at 175...kinda.
Floyd is very strategic with things he says.. maybe he bashed Virgil Hunter because he knows he's gonna have to match his guy with Ward eventually and wants to create hype for that. Jack going for Adonis, if he wins he's WBC champ then a clash with Ward is the next move (since we all know Ward beats Kovalev again :fingersx:)
Don't think it's a good idea for Floyd to match up Badou against Hard punching Adonis for his first fight at LHW . Jack's vulnerable early on in fights . Derek Edwards KO'd him in the first rnd and Degale put him down . Regardless if it was a Flash knockdown , He went down ! Adonis has the strongest left hand in boxing ( IMO ) and would probably take Jack out early on . Specially after just going through such a tough fight with Degale .
Square fighters who like to block fighters on their guard usually don't do too well against southpaw with sharp and powerful left hand, they tend to have very tough time to block it...
Prime for prime Adonis knocks Badou out, but right now? It's completely unknown to me, pick em. Adonis should fight Eleider first, winner against Badou is great fight.
