Casual fans will lap it up
Sad but true
Yeah both men have enough notoriety to land a million plus ppv buy rate. That's not pac/may type money but enough to get may outta retirement
LOL well we still have to wait and see if this fight actually happens and if it does, how much money is involved.
I hope it absolutely bombs at ppv to stop any of this rubbish ever happening again.

Don't underestimate the stupidity of the general public, that's all i will say.

Like I said a while back, if this fight gets announced and anticipated it shows the gullibility of the modern, celeb oriented sports fan. Anyone who even has an inkling of boxing knowledge knows this fight is worse than May v Baldomir.
Plus labeling it the billion dollar fight is hilarious. Investors are going to lose big money on this one if they put in the May/Pac sort of money.

As a Conor fan and Floyd hater, I have no interest in seeing Conor get Arturo Gatti'ed in a boxing ring by Floyd. In the octagon, the exact opposite would happen - McGregor would destroy Mayweather, and probably do so in only a round - but this wouldn't take place in the octagon, it would take place in the boxing ring, and that's Floyd's domain. He has no probable chance of winning there, and it would be considered highly impressive if he even went the distance or won a single round against Mayweather in a boxing match.
Of course it's possible that Conor shocks the world and pulls out arguably the biggest upset of all time by knocking out Mayweather... But it's one of those things so astronomically unlikely that there's no real reason to think it would happen. I'd much rather see Conor focus his time and energy on his MMA/UFC career than waste time trying to outbox people who have been doing it their whole lives. Likewise, if Floyd returns, I'd prefer to see him fight an actual boxer instead of someone from a completely different sport.
The sooner we move on from this farce, the better.

I know plenty of morons that think he can beat Floyd and have read many comments on social media.
I'm not talking about people who frequent forums like this. I mean people who literally have no clue about either sport but tune in to McGregor fights.
Yep dumb casual fans
no, not in a boxing match, and whoever is saying it is just saying it to piss the floyd fans off.

Let's be fair though, the numbers would be insane. Both guys would be absolutely stupid not to make it happen if they can, from a business perspective of course.
In terms of the fight in a boxing setting, it's ridiculous.
I'll be watching anyway if it happens and so will millions and millions of others. The good thing for both guys is there's actually millions of people out there who are totally uneducated about boxing/UFC and the differences and think McGregor could actually beat Floyd, so it sells huge amounts on that alone, never mind the curious punter buying it too.
I still don't think it happens. As long as he's under contract with UFC, they won't allow it. Unless he isn't actually under contract right now? not sure..
2 mill ppv minimum.
easily.
most people in the world are stupid.
I'm not so convinced it does great numbers
Atleast it shouldn't
But as you pointed out people are fickle
there's a lot of money on the table and Dana would approve if he get's to Co-Promote, and we boxing fans should be ecstatic having the #1 boxer whip #1 MMA fighter, it will prove boxers are better and it might sell 5M PPV's or more cause McGregor is a bigger name then Pacquaio
yea.. boxers are better ..at boxing. big surprise there. nothing to brag about as a boxing fan seeing Floyd whoop on a non-boxer. bragging is a boxer that beats Mcgregor in the octagon. now that's bragging.
This entire scenario is reminiscent the "will they/won't they" angle TV shows use to get viewers to watch for years to see if two characters get together...except in this story, we all already know they never ever will. Every time I see a headline about Floyd and McGregor all I see is "Slow day in sports! Click here to supplement our poor web traffic!"
Norm clarke is a credible source

They wont fight. Floyd wont fight in mma and Conor will get destroyed in the ring. They are just doing this for publicity because they are media whores.

"All that I saw from Floyd Mayweather...is that he mostly ran, and he rope-a-doped again! A few low blows...and the judges wouldn't even give Conor a round unless he all but drew blood on Mayweather.
As I was taught covering boxing in the 70's, unless there's a knockdown, the aggressor wins the round. Who was the aggressor in this fight? Conor was the aggressor!"

"Skip. The man threw 400 punches and landed 12. Yeah, he was the aggressor...the ineffective aggressor. You can't score for that!"
Hahaha
