Dude, if we couldn't compare fighters from the past to fighters from the present, there'd be no reason for this site to exist or 90% of the discussions we have about boxing.
I agree but bruh....asking who a fighter reminds you of implies that the dude is a mirror image of another fighter. Boxing styles are on a spectrum in that that's basically impossible, every fighter is unique.
I just don't like the idea that people will be like "Thurman is basically X fighter but today's version". That's such an ignorant way of comparing fighters.
Casuals will never learn boxing if they just always associate guys who use a similar stance for example, as "the same thing". It's so far from reality it's sickening.
like ike quartey...just a notch below that elite hall of fame level. gives his contemporaries all they can handle but he isnt the best and usually comes up just a bit short.
let's see how he does. many questions will be answered after the garcia fight.
When has Keith ever come up short again?

No one really, he is Keith Thurman.
Kind of a stupid thread if you ask me.

What fighter of the past could you compare Keith Thurman too.
A poor man's sugar shane mosley......less athletic and less dynamic....but with a little more traditional boxing acumen...
reminds me of Tim Bradley.. does nothing great but does everythin just good enough. doesn't really have a key weapon like Garcia's left hook, Keith can pretty much do whatever it takes.
