P4P is more a measurement of skill than resume which is why lower weight classes generally do better. pound for pound best.
Ward does not have a right hand. None.
Kovalev can only fight long range. I couldn't believe how he backed off of Ward when he had him cornered and on the ropes numerous times. His power seems to only be in straights.
GGG is number 1.
He has a better hit and not get hit ratio than Ward.
He has both hands.
he has straight shots and hooks.
He can get you out of there long range.
Or he can put a head on your chest against the ropes and take out your body.
He has no losses.
Oh schit.... none? Really?
Incredible. :hail:
nope there's no controversial to his perfect record.
he also has offensive skills that Ward doesn't have. fact.
he uses both hands while Ward has no right hand.
he has a better hit and not get hit ratio than Ward.
Ward has been dropped multiple times.
GGG > Ward offensively and defensively.

So why shouldn't having a good chin be considered a plus on a P4P list?
If you go purely by "skill" then you need to take away things like speed, reflexes and even cardio as well, because those are also genetic gifts.
How would Floyd do as a boxer if he had average speed and reflexes and questionable cardio even if his purely technical skill was top notch?
By your logic Floyd didn't have that good defense either because he relied a lot on his reflexes and athleticism and his quick counters (speed).
Genetic gifts of a fighter are part of the overall package, fighter's skill isn't just part of some vacuum, everyone has certain genetic predispositions whether it's chin, power, speed, reflexes, reach, height, explosiveness etc. and then builds his style of boxing (his boxing skills) around it.
GGG has an iron chin and doesn't need to have as tight defense from a purely technical perspective as Ward but on the other hand he's also slow and often has a big reach disadvantage, he's also not the most explosive fighter either. The reason why he can put his power and iron chin to good use is because of his purely technical skills like timing and cutting the ring off. We had plenty of fighters with good chin and power but they tend to get outboxed as soon as they step up in competition or become shot after too many wars.
exactly.
Chin is a part of defense like power is a part of offense. Chin and power are both genetic. Malignaggi can never be an offensive juggernaut due to his genetic disposition.
you can't have A+ defense if you have a fragile chin like Khan
defense and chin are different things. defense and your opponent's power are different hings. LHW and 160 are different things.

no...ive been judging him on his 35 fight, 10+ year career that includes 0 elite fighters and only 4 titlists faced....pretty thin resume for a fighter with such hype....sorry attempt bro but the criticism is justified, unlike his p4p placement.....he is literally the only guy ive seen so highly touted yet no A class opponents defeated. :fingersx:
....... that had absolutely nothing to do with what I wrote.
Isn't there 1 cell in your brain that goes "Wait a second.. I've written this same sh1t about 70000 already, maybe I should write something new".
ok...so Winky Wright, Aaron Pryor, Mike McCallum get imaginery wins because they were ducked too?
gotcha....lol....proof is in the pudding....he hasnt done enough to be considered top 5 p4p.....all those fighters you mentioned have taken on better opposition and taken more risks than GGG...BJS has more wins than GGG over current top ten middleweights.
Now matter how many times you type "FACT" doesnt make it any less true that his resume is lacking too much to be considered the best fighter in the world...sorry
Give instances where they were mandatories to the belt and the fighter vacated belt to them, rather than fight them.
also give instances where fighters paid them "step aside" money when they were mandatories.
i'll wait.
the fact is, the ducking of GGG is unprecedented. he is p4p due to other fighters fear and respect of his p4p skills.
defense and chin are different things. defense and your opponent's power are different hings. LHW and 160 are different things.
not sure you even understand what is being implied, and i have no idea whyt i'm talking to a troll, but i am waiting for a hone call and have nothing better to do. flip flop floop
Ward was dropped by a shoesalesman at SMW
he has something more than any other P4P fighter. that is fear.
Canelo ducked him. this is a fact of history.
Cotto ducked him. fact of history.
BJS ducked him. "GGG will beat me and Eubank Jr on the same night."
Martinez ducked him. Fact.
Quillen ducked him. Fact.
Sturm ducked him. Fact.
Froch ducked him. "I'll swerve GGG like the plague."
Ward. "No concessions for GGG" "Fight will never happen"
This kind of unprecedented ducking solidifies his P4P status. Professional fighters are straight up petrified of this man.

Lol, you're the last guy who should be quoting me on that. You've basically been judging Golovkin based off his fight with Brook for 3 months now.

Kovalev also was exposed as having a less than stellar gas tank. He reminds me of Tyson now at this point.
He fades at the midway point.
GGG doesn't stop. That 11th round mauling of Murray is positive proof of that.
the same exact thing happened in the chilemba fight. i guess it was chilemba's "body work" right? chilemba would have gotten the decision if his name was andre ward.
Ward has been dropped twice.
GGG has never been dropped.
on top of that GGG gets hit less than Ward over a fight due to actually finishing them.
GGG has better hit and not get hit ratio.
GGG's defense > Ward's defense.
Offense. there's no comparison. GGG is superior. GGG has better offense and arguably better defense.
GGG > Ward
sorry sonny.

Based off his career lol. He's great offensively but gets hit too much to be considered more complete than Ward or Kovalev.
KOvalev has been dropped multiple times professionally.
Ward has been dropped twice.
GGG has never been dropped.
he has one of the best hit to not get hit ratios in the sport. better than ward. he's the only offensive fighter in the top 10.
GGG's defense > both of those 2
yep, find myself agreeing with you again. Cant say i was blown away by the skill level on show that night, kept getting told in the build up that these two were the best fighters in the sport, well it didnt look like it to me. Not much offensive variety from either of them, kovalev had issues cutting off the ring, just plodding after ward at times, but ward hardly looked amazingly slick, getting tagged by jabs all night long
Kovalev also was exposed as having a less than stellar gas tank. He reminds me of Tyson now at this point.
He fades at the midway point.
GGG doesn't stop. That 11th round mauling of Murray is positive proof of that.
ward has taken only a few "sunday punches" in his career. golovkin's taken a lot of his opponent's best shots. stevens, brook, lemieux, willie monroe, gabe rosado, these guys all hit golovkin with basically the biggest shots they could throw.
i've only seen ward tagged like that a handful of times. let's also not forget that ward's fought much better fighters in his career, and that golovkin's resume is lacking for a pound for pounder.
Ward has been dropped twice.
GGG has never been dropped.

thread went to hell with this line....sorry bro...you cant be p4p # 1 without wins over elite opposition or at least without cleaning out your division....he has done neither
shouldve, couldve, wouldve dont make hall of famers, champions or p4p # 1
what GGG has is talent, hype, and speculation based results...in reality, he has the thinnest resume of anyone considered the best in their respective division....he only has one win over current top ten guys and he is an active fighter...it shows his level of opposition is clearly below Loma, Ward, Kov, Chocolatito, Bud, Garcia and others who arent as heavily hyped yet have taken more risks
he has something more than any other P4P fighter. that is fear.

^^^^this....one fight doesn't define a fighters legacy and resume.
