Wilder or Povetkin, who was at fault?

The fact that the question needs to be asked is a sad thing. In general yes. But not when you look at the people on here that blamed Wilder.

There is no such thing as 'clean'. All athletes are doing things to enhance their performance, some are legal (train at altitude) and others are not (use EPO), even though they all enhance performance and in this example they both do so by increasing red blood cells. Povetkin is a doper like many others, maybe Wilder doesn't, that is his decision but I have no more respect for it than if he chose to dope like Povetkin. I'm just annoyed Povetkin was either dumb enough, or unlucky enough, to get caught twice! Regardless of what you think of the methods used, both fighters agreed to do testing in which certain things were known to both sides to be off of the table. Povetkin agreed to take part in the fight and the testing, but nevertheless broke the agreed upon rules by taking one of the banned substances. That's on him, no matter what you say. You might not like the rules, but if you enter a contest and understand the rules up front and break any of them that failure is on you.

I never blamed Wilder even before Povetkin failed for the 2nd time. When your opponent fails a drug test you don't fight him. Its as simple as that.

Povetkin's superior technique would have been the greater threat. And if that's true, he should have came into the ring clean and proven that. Short of doing that, there is no reasonable thing Wilder can do other than to call off the fight. It is silly to expect anything else from a fighter when the other one gets popped.

Or it was WBC fault for sanctioning a fight for pedvetkin that he couldn't win...... everyone is to blame but pedvetkin

lmao people STILL ride Wilder for that.. it's ridiculous. You can't credit him for the fight because it never happened but you can acknowledge that Wilder accepted the fight against the challenger everyone wanted him to face and that the fight was cancelled due to circumstances entirely outside of his control.
