Earlier this year, when Arum tried to make Loma vs Walters, Walters rejected $550,000. To try to make the fight, Loma even offered him $300,000 from his own purse if Walters beat him, which could have lifted his payday up to $850,000.
Then this tidbit comes out today LOL
The problem with this post is that you actually believe Arum when he says he offered Walters $550,000 and that Lomachenko actually offered to give Walters $300,000 if Walters won the fight.
Arum also claimed that he offered Miguel Cotto $13 million for a rematch with Pacquiao when the actual offer was $6.5 million (according to Cotto) -- the same amount he paid Cotto for the first Pacquaio fight. Arum also claimed that he was involved in a second negotiation for a Mayweather/Pacquaio fight and gave Mayweather a deadline for accepting the fight. Arum later revelaled that his idea of a negotiation consisted of one phone call to the president of HBO saying, "this is what we want".
If you believe anything Arum says, I have a bridge I want to sell you.
The problem is that you failed to do research. This is from Walters own mouth
Lomachenko is one of the better opponents that we're gonna fight," Walters told ******.com on Tuesday. "We asked for a certain amount; they said no. They said only $550,000 was available for the fight and I think fighting Lomachenko for $550,000 with the tax we're gonna pay to the government and everybody, we actually go home with nothing. We took the decision; we're not gonna fight for $550,000."
Well, that sucks for him.
I don't understand why people are getting mad at Lomachenko for this though. It's not his fault Walters is getting paid that much.
Maybe Walters should have taken the original offer.
The reason Loma gets paid a good amount is because of his contract. When he signed to go pro his team and him negotiated a great contract and Top Rank really really wanted to sign him. Can't be mad at that. Most would have done the same.
Fighters in the past (like 5-15 or so years ago) were making more and they weren't draws. I don't remember seeing people mad at those fighters.
I think he got offered the $550k of the fight was at 126 where Walters was having trouble making weight. I don't trust Arum's contracts, Walters must sell his soul to get those extra $250k.
One thing is for sure. I don't want to hear Arum cry like a girl when another one of his cash cows loses to one of his own stable fighter. Remember how he crapped all over Rigondeaux's win over DonaireI disagree.comparing walters to rigo is laughable.walters is exciting he's a big puncher.arum rightfully crapped on rigo because he's insanely boring nobody can sell rigo to the public just look at him now that he's promoted by roc nation he's more irrelevant now than he's ever been.arum gave rigo his chance to shine and rigo sh1t the bed.
Walters should be praised for willing to take a risk for short money. If he wins his stock and pay days will rise. Golovkin should take note.
This retard is so obsessed with ggg that he brings him up for no fawking reason. Then instead of saying that about Jacobs he trashes ggg when Jacobs said no and it doesn't make financial sense. Fawk man get. A life bro!
Back on topic sucks he lost out on money

I'm sure there's some side deals going on there that isn't in the purse. Or probably an extension for more money. Manny's official purse is usually a lot lower than what he makes. Chavez was offered more money against GGG with an extra fight extension or a lower purse with no fight.
lol..............
It was like...
Walters in Jamaican accent: "You last offer me 550 tousand Mr. Arum, we need to renegotiate.
Arum: "How about 600 Thousand Mr Walters?"
Walters: "Not enough"
Arum: "How about .3 Million"
Walters: "Deal"
Idf this is the purse then I feel for the guy but he also had to take less for any fight now.. Moved up in weight, no title & hasn't fought in a year - he really did not have great bargaining power..
The 550,000 could come with extra strings attached, I am sure there is more to the picture though one way or another.
That or he realized he needed to fight to make money and 300k is not that bad for a couple months work.
