When watching the fight live, I had Kovalev winning by 2 rounds, watched the fight again 3 more times and now I have Ward winning 114-113.
I gave Kovalev rounds 1,2, 4, 6, and 10. It was kinda scary to see how biased Ledderman was being, and might have actually affected what I saw on fight night. Ward clearly won rounds 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12. Kovalev really didn't do much outside of the first two rounds.
Wondering if anyone else has changed their scores after watching the fight again.
the fact that you were originally swayed by lederman tells me you have a weak opinion. Scoring all close rounds for the same guy shows people's bias. The fact that round 10 was scored against Kovalev by the official judges is what makes a Ward victory a travesty.
3rd round ward didnt do **** but take some tough jabs and got outtclinched in his own game he lost the first 4 runds ward had good rounds in the 5 7 8 and 9ths but the rest were close and kov edged a few of those out won 7-5 overall plus the extra point. 115-112 imo most unbiased boxing experts had it that way across the board, some even 8 rounds to 4 for kov.
Yea, thats just wrong. Ward clearly won the third round, Kovalev landed a few jabs from what I remember, Ward was landing solid left hooks to the head, and was snapping Kovalev’s head back in that round with his jab.
Had 1, 2, 4, 6, 10 and 12 Kovalev and 5 a 10 - 10 first time round. 115 - 113 Kovalev
Second time I gave 5, 7, 8, 9, 11 to Ward but scored 3 a 10 - 10. Tempted to go for 10 -10 in 12 too and can see how some gave it to Dre.
I didn't. I saw Ward win a close fight. But good that people are being honest and will finally give Ward the respect he deserves.
They both deserve respect for making the fight happen, regardless of who we thought won the fight. Both great fighters.
See for me originally I thought there could be no way Ward won because I thought he lost the first 5 rounds, yet watching it again, Ward won rounds 3 and 5. After that, I only gave Kovalev rounds 6 and 10. Even if you thought Ward loss, I find it hard to believe that you didn't think rounds 7,8,9, 11 and 12 were at the very least close.

Watching it the first time I have ward winning 8-4.
But after I visit the forum and read the poll, I rewatched it again and come up with Kovalev winning 9-3
Originally had it 8 rounds to 4 after a rewatch I gave ward 5 rounds just can't see it any way for ward and a draw is impossible cause of the kd
115 112 kovalev

I haven't rewatched it yet, but had Ward 114-113
Good decision I'll give more credit to the fighter that finishes strong then the fighter that starts off strong for the first 2. Rounds and fades
But it's a common theme for HBo, They choose their house fighter and they tilt the commentating /scores in their favour
It makes it difficult to watch their broadcasts and give a honest take on the fights because they are basically deceiving and manipulating your senses with the sound and visuals of the fight and can sway your opinion

Haven't full committed to a rewatch, but what I noticed is less bodywork from Ward and more punches to the back, low blows and rabbit punches.
Yep a lot of the "work" he was doing were non-scoring punches but apparently the judges gave points. He will never have a fight without controversy with that style.
A lot of people have that same scorecard, it's the same one I have as well. I also had Kovalev winning by a couple of points and was pretty shocked to hear Ward get the decision but after rewatching it, I feel that the right man won.
Whats more troubling is, I feel that Kovalev can do more in a rematch where as Ward not so much, Ward has to get inside early and work the body which will be insanely difficult.
