Ward did not fight the perfect fight, but he showed the heart of a champion, adjusted, and eked out the close win. Without the kd, he would have clearly won by 2-3 rounds. Kovalev couldnt get out of 2nd gear and was worked over past round 5
ward ran through the fire and met the big bad krusher....no hugging, no head butts, he bit down and worked inside and stayed with the game plan
imo a rematch will be a clearly win for ward considering he is a tactical master.
Did he earn any of you guys respect
we understand nothing will never be enough, he went up in weight and had a great fight with the best in the division, some days I wonder if u guys actually understand how hard this sport is, ward deserves respect even if u felt he lost.
Who said he didn't deserve respect for taking the fight? He does, absolutely.
He earned my respect by moving up a division, getting off the canvas and fighting well enough to make it a close fight, no matter who you think won. It was a damn close fight that could have gone either way.
What doesn't earn my respect are fanboys who are claiming that Ward did not clinch or that Kovalev initiated them. That statement is so idiotic that even a chimp would laugh at you for saying that.
mi wife always says the same to me...I do shi.tty analogies.
But yeah, moving on. I'm hyped for the rematch I just hope they dont take that long to make it happen.
likeswise bro....likewise :boxing:
i havent been that pumped for a live fight in some time
that is not the same and is a crappy analogy.
moving on bro...not that deep...both fighters gave a good account of themselves...people are just reading too deep into simple azz words lol

"make it look like" key word...never in my post I said you wrote especific words.
and no..I'm not an emotional dude.
And as you said, you stated that without the KD the win would be clearer. But that is like me saying "take GGG's power away and he is not a big deal" yeah...but that is a part of him I cant take that away from him. The same goes for the fight...I cant take away the KD.
and dude I'm not making a deal out the KD...it is what it is...just that. Close fight.
Ward dominated/took over/etc the fight? no, never, just as SK he just won rounds...both men did.
did I make myself clear right?

....where did I say he was schooling kovalev
damn you guys get too emotional
I clearly stated the win would have been more clear with out the knockdown...not a landslide, not a schooling but a clearer win
do you guys see what you want to see when you read other people's posts?

are you kidding me? I scored it for Ward...but dont try to make it look like it was a schooling if it wasnt for the KD.
and did you see the fight? that inside from both men were full of fouls(kova with his elbows and ward the same and the head use)..and the ref let them get away with it. wich was cool for me.

where are all the complaints about kovalev head locks, rabbit punching, and excessive clinching
he was cheating doe
bwhahaahahahahahahahaha
just like they didn't complain about maidana vs Floyd with his dirty tactics but said it was beautiful... too much
if it was a whitewash, they'd still react the same
sour grapes
that's what happen when you are emotionally invested in sports events and live vicariously through fighters
we know what their real motive is and was the whole time, they are really hurt lmaoooo
ward wasn't coming head first he came low with a high guard and kov held to stop it, its okay bro it was actually a good game plan only thing is there are no complaints of it after months of saying that's all ward would do, that's whats funny to me.

Well put, Bat.

I think that Ward only landed 1 or 2 headbutts basically because Kovalev was able to lock his head. I dont know the clinchcount but its probably 3 digits.
Respect? Well he got the win in a close fight that most people thought Kivalev won. Yank officials all the way. Its like Sven Ottke.
Ward gets my respect when he rematches Kovalev in Russia with russian officials.
:lol1:
Well put, Bat.
how did kovalev look IYO...he had no second gear?
He looked good. It was a solid points victory but he got robbed.
you do realize Kov was doing most of the clinching, head locks and tying up....right
No, that's false. Ward initiated most of the clinching. That isn't very important, though. I didn't even think the fight as such was especially marred by clinching. There were plenty of good exchanges too, and other things to look for.
He was nullifying Ward's spoiler tactics of bullrushing in head first down low.

After getting stunned in rd 1 and knocked down in rd 2 and standing on the end of kovalevs punches, he started to lunge in head first. Kovalev kept catching him in a headlock though and he stopped.
He went back to the pittypat in the clinch strategy and I guess the judges counted those as punches, for the same reason (paid off) that they counted roc nation prospect maurice hookers punches that missed perez by several feet.
These white boyz don't know bout dat sweet science dawg!
