The people who support this notion that Kovalev is somehow the People's champion are hyping themselves up because they are in denial. They know their guy did not give it his all and underachieved. The irony of it all, I was one of many boxing fans, who picked Kovalev over Ward and had predicted that he would win by way of knockout but boy I was wrong. He fought the wrong fight. Instead of fighting at a frenzied pace to get Ward out of there when he dropped and hurt him in rounds 1 and 2; He simply chose to slow the pace down which played right into Andre's hands by allowing him to find his rhythm and back into the fight. Had the late Manny Steward been working his corner he would have cussed him out for not trying enough for the knockout. S.O.G. Was ripe for the picking and the Krusher let him off the hook. That would have been unacceptable in Emanuel Steward's corner.
