Will we ever see anything close to that again..that is a 21 year gap..amazing
This tells us a lot about the quality of fighter that Muhammad Ali was. He KO'D Foreman in 1975. Foreman came back and KO'd Moorer in 1994, almost 20 years later. The fighters from the 70s era were superior.
I remember watching some documentary, maybe the one HBO did on Foreman-Moorer, Foreman said that when Ali beat him, Ali told him something along the lines, "Don't worry George, you can be champ again in 20 years" - and 20 years 6 days later, Foreman was champ again.
Actually, today marks the 42nd anniversary from when he lost vs Ali.
He lost it 10/30/74 and regained it 11/5/94.
One can definitely argue that Bernard did something equal or greater, though I don't personally value Hopkins' accomplishments as being the same. It's because the last decade of his career has been a gaming of the rules sort of ugliness that doesn't impress me as much as old man Foreman walking out there and throwing down with HWs. I greatly value technique above all else and have a lot of respect for Hopkins, but I have a hard time imagining anyone doing it the way George did.
i put bhop accomplishment above foreman because at 46 (2010-2011) bhop still is p4p fighter, i bet on him againts any opponent. while i think big george can only do his miracle once, he fail to take hw championship from holyfield i certainly wont bet on him vs bowe, lewis or even moorer if he rematch him.
Not even close? Really? Won championship belts 20 years apart and lineal championships 12 years apart. (or maybe arguably lineal 20 years apart depending on how you at it). He was even older than foreman when he did it. Pretty close I'd say.
He was 1st lineal after Tito in 2001..next lineal was beating Pascal in 2011..great feat..10 years apart...first title in 1994 last title won in 2013..17 years apart down right amazing..damn sure not trying to take anything from B-Hop

Yes Hopkins had a more accomplished, consistent career..true
no.. not only that we're talking about the time gap between the first lineal held to their last.
i think in that aspect bhop accomplishment is still better eventhough his time is shorter
though the time gap is shorter, i think b-hop accomplishment is greater.
multiple titles in multiple divisions and he still have that aura of p4p fighter eventhough he's already 46 years old while many critics view foreman accomplishment is only one time thing
