cant believe some of the comments im reading lol, briggs is 'high risk' theres pretty much no risk. briggs is 44 years old and he hasnt aged gracefully, im not a haye fan to say the least but theres no way hes scared of briggs lol, theres nothing to be scared of, guy was shot about 10 years ago let alone now.
We don't know how good Haye is now. He might be a bigger, stronger version of the Haye that destroyed Chisora or he might be a slow, past prime version who's lost much of his power to a serious injury. Any step up on the cans he's knocked over is a risk.
Bellew is lower risk and higher reward so he'll get the fight, assuming Haye knocks Lucas Browne over for the belt.
Briggs was only a treading water fight while Haye waited to be handed a title shot. The WBA are about to give him that, so he'll now only take an incredibly low risk right if he needs to stay busy before that. Looks like he's about to get Lucas Browne for the title, then it'll be an easy voluntary (possibly still Briggs) and Joshua in a stadium in the summer.
I still think he should keep his word. LET'S GO CHAMP.
Briggs is a cartoon character and his fans are people who like the shtick. "Let's Go Champ!"
Haye fans are people who still see him as the lion who is going after the greatness that eluded him in the past. I think he's phony as hell and every action he makes seems to support that. I'd love to be wrong and see him actually stick his neck out there. 250lbs of wasted talent.
Absolutely. I didn't take it as an accusation or anything.
Yea, Idk what his plans are but it definitely isn't chasing greatness or trying to become a top player in the division. I think he just came back for a quick money grab. Start with a few small fights like he's been doing then land the big money and get out of the game again.
It's funny because that's exactly what Briggs is doing.

That's why I said "maybe not you." Cause I wasn't too sure if I was misinterpreting your post.

I've never said I thought Briggs was much of a threat. However, when you look at Haye's last two opponents, it becomes clear what his game is. He's not going to take on anyone challenging unless he can maximize his returns. I think that Haye sees Briggs as too risky. He'd only do it if he thought he could steal a belt off him.
Remember when Browne won that strap and Haye immediately piped up, trying to be first in line for it? Meanwhile, he could have easily pursued Joshua or Wilder but Haye isn't about that life anymore. I'm all about fighters being smart but his emphasis on risk/reward these days is purely shameless. The guy has no heart for boxing.

I don't see how Haye can see Briggs as too risky. One thing is not wanting 2 young prime fighters and another is not wanting a slow ass washed up Briggs. Idk why he won't fight Briggs but I find it doubtful that he sees Briggs as too risky. Even my 91 yo great grandma can avoid his punches.
Do you people seriously believe Briggs is too much risk for Haye? Maybe not you but some people here seriously believe Briggs would beat Haye as if they haven't seen Briggs fight recently... It boggles me tbh.

Pfft... He sees it as too big a risk. If he can do this goofy ass "Haye Day" stuff and the Brits buy it, he can fight an actual boxer (or former boxer considering Shannon's age) and sell it.

If PPV is the reason the fight isn't happening, then the fight isn't going to happen anytime. PPV is a ridiculous notion.
Can't say i'm too disappointed either way. Briggs' behaviour sells the fight to the casuals, but it's still not much of a fight.
He's better than the other guys Haye has faced since his return, but it's still a guy Haye puts away without any trouble IMO.
When it comes to the man's credibility, I think Wlad said it best... without saying a word.
Hahahaha! Absolutely loving the silent Klitschko video... :hail:
The point is Chisora would have been stopped by a healthy Vitali.
Yeah in fantasy land.
In real life he gave Vitali a tough fight and there was absolutely no indication of otherwise even when Vitali had both of his arms which were for majority of the fight anyway.
Well he became injured in the fight.
He didn't go into the fight with one arm. It's a good excuse though
The point is Chisora would have been stopped by a healthy Vitali.
Doesn't really mean much.
Haye fought Chisora who also took Vitali 12 and KOd him brutally in 5. Different styles, power, angles and explosiveness.
*One armed Vitali.
Doesn't make sense..if haye gets a belt the fight is that much harder to make? If at all then.....
This ^
If Gaye gets a title, NO WAY would he then make the Briggs fight... "he has to earn it, he's not at my level, why should I put my title on the line?" etc. Plus it might not even get sanctioned, depending
Still, glad that this guy exists- it's a great litmus test. Anyone who says they're a fan, you can make a mental note to yourself... kn0b
