I was talking with a few Guatemalans today and they had no idea who he was. One even asked me if he was black.
Nobody in the real world knows who he is.
People recognize GGG and he still makes 800k on HBO no ppv against the 147 Brook who was his biggest challange? 300k payed to see Canelo fighting some not so popular fellow even after all the vacating fuss.
I officially don't recognize GGG from now on. -1 lol
I don't know what time it was in Turkey but in the US that was an afternoon show, did very good numbers for that slot. Some 60% better than Showtimes highest rating of the year, Wilder in prime time. But I encourage you to get lost as promised many times, lame poster
I'm pretty sure Canelo is a household name in Latin America. On the other hand, I doubt Golovkin is a household name anywhere in the world.
Not really with Canelo. He is a mexican superstar but most recognize him from the Floyd fight. I know a lot of ppl that don't know or don't follow him.

I know what you meant. I was just poking fun at it.
True that neither those guys are superstars or house hold names
So we are cool and the Wolf won't be paying me a visit.
If u follow boxing as a casual than dont know who GGG, u cant even call urself a casual. What a dumb thread lol. This dummy asked some guatemalans who domt follow boxing if they knew who GGG was and made a threas abt it lol
Consistency is the key to ever getting credibility in these forums. You say one thing in another, then completely trash it in another will just make you look stupid.
You say he's not popular, thus no huge money to generate, yet you want him to offer Jacobs more than what he deserves. That's just stoooopid.
When did I say that?
Are you on drugs mate?
That's the second time someone mentions Lara. Is this a Lara thread?
I don't know about 4 million, but I remember talks about "career high paydays" though. :rolf:

Nobody knows who he is, yet you clowns want him to offer Lara $4 million. You now see how stupid that is?

I know quite a few casuals who know about GGG.
No one knows who Andre Ward is though or Sergey Kovalev for that matter
The only person I met who knew who Golovkin was was a hardcore who also knew Spence, Beterbiev, etc...
Bottom line is that Golovkin may have a growing following worldwide, but if he was the "face of boxing" as some people claim here, he would be known in the biggest market in the world, even to the most remote casual fans.
All these things matter in negotiations.
Seen a few people walk around in GGG hats in south east london tbh
