Take a scroll down the threads. Chocalito just won a belt in a fourth division and approaches Mayweather's win record, two top 5 p4p fighters are nearing a fight in a month.
What are all the forums about?
GGG
I was kind of on the outside of this with Mayweather, but now I get it, the best fighter is by definition controversial.
What people said now and then:
Mayweather/ggg dodge challenging fights (Pacquiao-margarito/Ward)
He's got flaws in his abilities, may has no power/ggg can be hit.
His fans are blind to the truth.
The next fight is always about to expose may/ggg.
His fan base only like him because of their shared race.
And I'm sure there are more.
The fact that so many people are compelled to form threads with no point but to try and drag ggg down actually proves that boxing is coming to revolve around him the way it did with Mayweather. If you actually felt he was a hype job/ protected fighter, you would ignore him.
There are plenty of fighters like that in the business of boxing, so how can ggg engender 90% of the random hate? Because if you're wrong you'll be on the wrong side of history on one of the greats. So it's not good enough to ignore him, you have to actively attack him.
he made a uk ppv because of brooks, he cant be fighting vs uk fighters for the rest of his career... how many ggg fans were at the arena??? the guy was being booed all the time... and my point still the same ggg-brook had less viewers than ggg-murray....
He can do Eubank or BJS next. That was only a start. They can come for whoever they want, as long as he makes the money. My point also stays the same. GGG-Brook had less viewers, if you don't understand what the meaning of viewer is.
Yeah, and he still made millions more than the Murray fight. Guess why? If you are smart, you would guess that because of the UK PPV, where his future is, with BJS fight and all. If you are dumb, you would think, people are throwing cash at him for no reason. He is also one of the highest rating maker for HBO so i'm sure they are content.

if you add those replay numbers to the murray fight too, it actually has better numbers than the brook fight for hbo, that is why im comparing to that fight cuz that was the last time ggg had a similar scenario, im actually using replay numbers on both fights... at 35 yo ggg is not improving those numbers for hbo and thats not a promissing future...

You must be really bad with numbers. How convenient to add the 500k UK viewers right? Oh and are the replay viewers not counted as viewers now? Are those viewers aliens or something?
HBO gets back what they invested in him because he always sells and gets viewers, or else they wouldn't pay for his fight in the first place. That is how businesses work. You invest, if there is a return but your understanding of business is probably as bad as your maths skills. if you add those replay numbers to the murray fight too, it actually has better numbers than the brook fight for hbo, that is why im comparing to that fight cuz that was the last time ggg had a similar scenario, im actually using replay numbers on both fights... at 35 yo ggg is not improving those numbers for hbo and thats not a promissing future...
I agree with some of the stuff you're saying but Ward ducked the fight not Golovkin that much is pretty obvious he ducked the offer in 2013 and since his return he has no made one single fight at 168lbs and he had plenty of reason to do so with Ramirez, DeGale, Jack and others on the way up.
He had less viewers vs brook than he did vs murray last year, at 35yo he isnt improving jackshyt ... hbo should not be happy after all the time and money invested...

Lara is already making excuses about money, but we can add Ward to GGG's resume:

Tom offered sanchez the fight, and sanchez turn it down... monroe is a bigger name was the excuse... all these are facts that came from gggs camp...
We should also add ggg to laras and wards resume then..

Let me address the strength of opposition argument.
2 points, 1.
Golovkin deserves credit for the fighters who clearly avoided him. Sturm was champion for years, and his and GGGs promoter (before he moved to K2) refused to give him a title shot, and Sturm eventually fled up a weight.
Geale relinquished his belt rather than fight GGG, fortunately we got to see that fight later, and obviously it was not competitive.
Sergio Martinez, another champion, and a tremendous champion, avoided fighting GGG when he was mandatory for years. Unfortunately by his last fight, Cotto, he was clearly ready to go.
Cotto was consistent he wanted no part of GGG, even though he refused to give up the middleweight belt.
Canelo was required to fight GGG from the moment he won it. Of course the organization gave him another extension, just for money, and then relinquished the belt.
2. Judgments about how good people are is always a comparison. It's not in a vacuum. So is 160 weak, or is it weak in comparison to GGG, or is it both?
Imagine a division where one fighter is way better than everyone else. Does that definitely mean the division is weak, or definitely mean that fighter is an all time great? Both or anywhere in between is possible.
Also it's fair to say that the division is avoided, sturm moves up, 6ft tall people (Charlos) and 175+ pound people (Canelo) starve their way down to 154.
I also think it's unfair to say GGG hasn't beat anyone, Geale and Lemieux had belts. Murray was probably robbed out of a title twice, and had close decisions in three title fights. Proksa was an exciting up and coming fighter before facing GGG. You can't say say the people he beats are bad merely because he beat them easily.

GGG is succeeding in making more fans and haters both. Which means more views for him.

Are you sure about this? I this k the standards for GGG so high that he isn't allowed to fight wws or PFP no1s! When GGG wanted too fight Floyd by bloating him to 16o or even 154 it was frowned upon even wan ting too fight Floyd to provee himself.
Its OK for fgloyd to fight pfo no3 jmm by bloating him, or for hacker to fight lightweights though! Gggs causing waves and making everyone nervous.
I can't even understand WTF you're trying to say here. Sober the fvck up, then post.
Brook might very well beat Khan, but g string would never, ever, under any circumstances be favored to beat Hagler. NEVER, EVER!

How good opposition is, is a matter of opinion. Sven had home advantage so you gotta do what GGG just did.
GGG would be favoured to best hagler. Just limke brook would beat khan. Brook hasn't got better resume than jhsan, but would beat him. Even if brook didn't have porter and GGG on his resume he beasbeasts khan

In what world would g string beat Hagler? Not a chance in hell.
Those 20 defences won't mean a thing vs crap opposition. Sven Ottke made 21 defenses of his title, did he become the greatest super middleweight ever? NO. Reason, no quality opposition.

Hag!er has a better resume than GGG. But GGG beats hagler. Similar to khan having better resume than brook, but brook beats khan.
When GGG beats defense record of 20 or so, GGG becomes greatest middleweight ever.

No it doesn't cos GGG was great before fighting brook. But GGG showed how a great fighter is supposed to deal with very good wws. A lot of 160 wouldn't have shown that
. haglrrr didn't exactly show how greast he was beating former lightweights
Don't you have to beat at least one quality opponent before being called great?
I see where it fits your agenda, but your Hagler facts are terribly distorted. He only fought one former lightweight (Duran), and that lightweight could easily be a top 10 P4P all time and hadn't fought at lightweight in 10 years. On top of that, Hagler cleaned out the 160 division.

Your "proof" is mostly your opinion and nothing more. Before being labeled "the greatest current boxer", you have to actually fight quality opposition.
Yep. And the best part is you have the stats to back your statement. (<90k ppv buys)
I swear that number keeps going down. Tomorrow some neckbeard will post 80k ppv. Salt is real :bottle:
