Don't get me wrong, I think Jacobs is the #2 at Middleweight and will give GGG a good fight as long his chin holds up.
Some Facts about Jacobs, all according to Boxrec:
Jacobs got knocked out by Pirog, the same Pirog GGG signed to fight for his HBO debut, Pirog got injured and had to pull out, end his career.
Jacobs Top 10 Wins
Peter Quillin (B)
Sergio Mora (C)
Caleb Truax (C)
Ishe Smith (C)
Jarrod Fletcher (C)
Giovanni Lorernzo (D)
Michael Walker (Cabdriver)
Chris Fitzpatrick (Plumber)
Jose Varela (Burgerflipper)
Keenan Collins (Postman)
Peter Quillin is the best win of Jacobs, but is Quillin such a great win as people suggest? What did Quillin achieve, who did he beat?
Peter Quillin Top 5 Wins (rest are not worthy)
Ndam (B-) (lost to Lemieux, GGG schooled Lemieux)
Gabe Rosado (C)
Lucas Konecny (C)
Fernando Guerrero (C)
Jesse Brinkley (D)
Maybe we can get an unbiased discussion going about Quillin and what made Quillin such a good win for Jacobs, Maybe i am missing something here. How is Quillin any better than Lemieux or Murray for example?
When Danny knocked Quillin off, he was legit #2 (even though Danny's trainer is on record saying Lemieux was a better win than Quillin). The fight ended before it was a fight. If they had a rematch, and Quillin's head was on right, Danny would be the underdog once again.
Quillin was good. N'dam is a good boxer, especially when they fought. And Quillin schooled N'Dam.
I wouldn't say that. N'Dam would be winning rounds boxing Pete's ears off and then get floored. That fight, coming off the Wright and McKewan wins, was Quillins career peak. Guerrero was a soft fighter and Quillin had problems in that fight, then had real problems vs Rosado, looked flat vs Koneckny, and vacated vs Korobov, struggled hard with Lee.
Golovkin has beaten at least 3 fighters as good or better than Quillin. Hell, Rosado was arguably beating Quillin in their fight before that ridiculous stoppage.
People have always overrated Quillin.
Quillen would be the biggest name on GGG resume sadly. Even thoughQuillin himself was vastly overrated. He was getting beat by Rosado if it wasnt from that eye...
What made Quillin better than Lemieux or Murray? Please explain.
Quillin was good. N'dam is a good boxer, especially when they fought. And Quillin schooled N'Dam.
But I personally don't give Danny any credit for the Quillin win. Quillin has been struggling with weight for a WHILE. He started his career fighting above MW, and couldn't make weight for a title fight with Andy. During his camp leading up to the Danny fight, there were several articles talking about how Quillin is seriously struggling making weight.
The fight itself tells us nothing either. Quillin threw like 5 punches and was the first guy who got caught when they were both throwing haymakers. There was little defense in that fight, and only thing we saw was that Danny has power and connected first.
Post fight is no better - Quillin talked about moving up to 168 afterwards and then went on an almost year-long break.
He was overhyped and at one point in boxing world there was a pretty big demand for Quillin vs Golovkin.
The main reason why he was considered a top MW though was his WBO belt. Which he later on vacated to duck one fighter, only to fight for it against a fighter he was more comfortable with :lol1:
He's a clown.
Fans never cared about Quillin or beloved he was anything special.
Only person who fell for that was Showtime.
Haymon actually convinced Showtime that Jacobs and Quillin were stars. And that when they fought each other it Would be a big fight.
Not even 300k people tuned in haha.
Quillin is just another pointless Haymon creation that no one cares about.
Thanks for your feedback, good arguments here.

quillen was a good win he was ranked top 5, Quillen is a limited fighter with power n both hands and no amature background he will never beat any of the top. it was a good win, everyone praises GGGs top 10 list u cant do that and then trash the quillen win who was top 5, if GGG koed quillen first it would be mentioned that he beat a top 5 MW
Please let someone post who has the IQ to understand my thread and is able to give valid reasons what made Quillin a great win for Jacobs.
? Was I wrong? Was he not a top 5 mw? How do you praise ggg for his top 10 mw wins but not agree quillen was a good win for Jacobs?

Kell Brook has more punch resistance than Quillin

Quillen was a top 5 mw. Can't praise all ggg wins over top 10 mw then disregard Jacobs win over quillen.
