Kovalev gets hit plenty of times, he has many defensive flaws, the same as GGG. The GGG-Brook fight was actually similar to Kovalev-Pascal fight, in a sense that the smaller boxer was hitting the stronger opponent with good punches but was in the end overwhelmed. Both GGG and Kovalev make up for their lack of defense with a great chin and amazing offense. But posters on here quick to diminish GGGs skills but have no problem with Kov doing the same thing, and they praise Kov. Also both dont have the best resumes, and Golovkin probably has a better chin p4p.
Because Golovkin was a threat to Floyd and Ward, so he must be put down.
As Kovalev becomes bigger threat and they start talking about each other, you'll see more and more people question Kovalev's skills and resume.
Golovkin didn't say any of that after Brook. He said he wanted a street fight and that's what it is according to him. You didn't hear him saying he let Brook hit him, he even said it wasn't a "world class performance, it was street fight". In the past against Monroe he said he tried to get Willie to open up more by inviting him in.Many other Golovkin fans have proposed that theory today, so I just assumed you were among the flock.
The sad thing is that the TS is dead ass serious.
GGG got the job done but was fighting pretty closely, arguably losing, w/ a big underdog who was much smaller than him (I haven't seen the full fight yet). Kovalev hasn't really shown that much vulnerability.
Apart from his SD win over Boone when he was dropped and also when he was dropped by D level Blake Caparello.
Can't take much from that Boone SD though to be fair. He must one of the the most dangerous gatekeeper/journeymen kind of fighter ever.
I'm a big Kovalev fan by the way, but he's shown more vulnerabilities than GGG. I really believe Kovalev can be hurt a bit easier too.
What does head gear have to do with getting knocked down? if you ask me punches hurt just as much with head gear as without it.
Head gear gives you a false sense of security if you ask me. You don't worry about getting cut or head butted. Head gear can make you lazy too.
Sparring isn't fighting, you work on things while sparring.
right... that's why he fought Brook...and because he's supposed to get all the belts at 160. dude, stop trolling man. go watch golfers complain about which clubs they should acquire for said tournament.
He should of fought Lara but him moving to 168 would be a bad move, no doubt. you lost me at the golf thing
Maybe he doesn't get a pass, the real problem is that PRIDE won't allow certain people to hear or see GGG and Kovalev Flaws because if you point in out on this forum that is "Reverse Racism" and you're "Anti Eastern European" and "If He Was A Black American...Blah Blah Blah"
So with idiots like this you let them learn the HARD WAY and they will comeback to this forum crying and complaining
Learn the sport and stop being a ALL PRIDE/ZERO BRAINS type of fan, you will enjoy and respect the sport better instead of this PRIDEFUL Reassurance BS and living vicarious through a boxer :lol1:
I could've sworn Super Middleweight has belts? 2 Division Champ is better than coasting a division where everybody acknowledges nobody wants to fight him or it sucks and having been promoted belts...
that's a hard one to figure out... for some kids, they refuse to believe santa clause doesn't exist when they realize it was all hype...
Again why does he need to move up when he has not even unified yet at his weight. It aint all about being a champ in as many weight classes as possible. Unifiying and dominating one weight class is legacy defining as well. TO add to the fact 168 is a **** division.
Kovalev is hittable but he doesn't get hit with such crazy number of punches. GGG can't fight on the backfeet, Kovalev can, that's the difference.
Kov's last fight he got hit the same amount of times as GGG
The huge fault in your argument there is that Golovkin hasn't faced anyone as good as a 50 year old Hopkins. For that matter, I can't remember the last time Kovalev fought someone as slow as Lemieux.
This is about technique, something which Kovalev has, whether you recognise it or not.
Really? Resume wise, Kov best win was 50 year old hopkins, thats not that good. They both got crappy resumes.
lol. so hitable. imagine if boxers were only tested at one weight class. let's see Golovkin take a punch north of 160 with a leaping hook
Why does he need to move up? Better for him to stay and unify. Nothing for him at 168.

Against a 50 year old Hopkins who didnt even throw much? Then get tagged by lesser known opposition with less skill than hopkins? GGG showed great defense in the Lemuix fight, but got hit against brook.

Dude Pascal aint nothing but a bum! He freakin lost to Carl Froch for Mayweather's sake! Pascal is the Robert Guerrero of light heavyweight. Only Kovalev fans overate this guy, everyone else knows he aint shieet!
Lol thats the most hurt Golovkin was in all his fights? Then thats freakin amazing. He is so hitable and thats the only time he got hurt, and it was barely anything at all. Thanks for proving my point. Theres video footage of Kovalev getting knocked down with head gear on.
Kovalev has shown better defensive skills (Hopkins fight was brilliant) so the general impression is that Kovalev is a bit more sound, on a technical level.

I agree, Kovalev seems more well rounded while he gets far less undeserved hype which is probably why he is not as criticized as Golovkin.
