The WBA HW tournament is a waste of time...

Just read Browne sued the WBA for stripping him & the settlement was he is back in the tourney against Fres Oquendo for the regular belt. This fight was not going to happen it sounds like because promoters told the WBA the fight simply will not sell but Browne's team forced their hands legally. Oquendo is only in this fight because he won a legal battle after the Chagaev fiasco. He had a full rematch clause in the contract somehow & he is legally entitled to a shot. So what I am getting out of all this is the only reason this fight is even happening now is because both guys won court battles for their title shot. Just get it over with & move on...

Yesterday i read Oquendo was in training camp so he must be fighting soon. Browne is cleared so they are fighting in the final of one bracket. Maybe if Ortiz fights Ustinov & the wlad/fury rematch happens then it wasn't a waste of time. I never thought for one minute Browne was clean. I guess they cleared him. Browne vs oquendo coming by years end...

Oquendo is in his gym training so he must be close to signing to fight in the tourney. Browne, Briggs or Haye????

Tournaments just don't work in boxing. Those that do work end up taking several years to complete at which point the fans lose interest. The IBF use to have 4 man tourneys to determine the mandatory. The last one I can think off hand was Pulev beating Ustinov & Dimitrenko to get the #1. It use to be 4 of the top 15 who were available.

You think he's on PED's? I have to suspect that he might be. Why else would he balk at VADA testing? I saw that after I made this thread... Lol! one cheater calling out another...Just stop drug testing all together... In defense of Ortiz he is doing the right thing now in trying to prove he's clean. That should be praised.

That would be a great fight but I honestly don't see the Fury/Klitschko winner fighting in this tourney after the fight. Both guys will look for Joshua/Wilder fights. At this point I would also be surprised if Oquendo actually gets in the ring again. With Chagaev gone maybe we will see Valuev & John Ruiz come out & fight it out for the WBA interim, regular, emeritus, baltic ruby belt... Wilder vs Fury is a big money fight that needs to happen. Maybe, but let's just see. I think the tourney carries on, and hope it does, there are some great fights forced that way. Ok I agree Oquendo is undeserving but what are the other reasons? Fres There is 3 titles, kinda already a joke to begin with Browned n peds Chagev losing, getting reinstated as champ, retiring Wlad/fury rematch still hasn't happened, holding everything up Tournament is a fine idea, but just a complete disaster of how its actually played out.

Wlad/Fury has been postponed twice & we could see a 3rd one. Ortiz/Ustinov fight has been in limbo twice already & what exactly has anyone heard out of the fres Oquendo team? Chagaev retired, Browne gets stripped for PEDS, Wlad/Fury rematch still in limbo, Ortiz has pretty much dropped out & Fres Oquendo is still in it without fighting in a few years. Haye could be added & even Briggs with their rankings. Just scrap the dumb interim & regular champion names as we all know Fury is the true WBA champion. The HW division was looking so promising & now it's a total mess...Ustinov vs Haye for the right to fight Fury/Klitschko winner? What I don't get is he was scheduled to get that rematch but dropped out injured so that is when Browne replaced him & pulled the upset. Who the hell knows what will happen next?
