Lara has proven he will fight anybody. He's the #1 ranked fighter in the division and the longest reigning title holder. J-Rock is a young and hungry contender who is gunning for the #1 spot.
Since the #2 guy wants no parts of it, why not shoot for the top dog in the division?
Lara's top level experience won't help him against J-rock...ya'll better watch some fights.
Williams has no top level experience. Hus next fight versus Charlo or Tony Harrison will be his best opponent to date. Hell, Harrison has more experience with Willie Nelson and Rabchenko.

Ive watched pretty much every Williams fight i can find
Lara is lightyears ahead of any opponent Williams has faced so far
Im happy for Williams to concentrate all his efforts into getting that IBF belt. He has zero leverage at this point so getting one of the four major straps would be great for him.
Risky fight.
Would love to see it.
Im a big J rock fan but i think Lara beats him at this stage. Too much top level experience and even though he fights well on tbe front foot, Williams doesnt have the style that really makes Lara look bad
I'm in favor of Lara fighting anyone relevant. His "title run" has been pretty pathetic. He catches no criticism because no one gives a ***** about him , but there's a couple of interesting fights imo at 154 against both Williams and Andrade.
If he has no interest in those fights he should consider moving to 160 where he could face Jacobs for a title and at that point truly line up for a GGG fight if the interest is sincere.
I would love to see that as well but J Rock positions himself for a shot at that IBF Title so Jermall need to fight or Drop the Belt then after he gets that Belt look to unify with Jermell and Lara but I don't think Lara should do Jermall "Dirty Work"
Good matchup.. I favor lara..
J-rock vs charo is the better fight to make, as both guys are untested in big fights, winner should fight lara.. But it's boxing so if it makes sense, it won't happen

Since the #2 guy wants no parts of it, why not shoot for the top dog in the division?Lara should fight him and in my opinion Lara would easily beat him. Lara has fought his share of tough guys but not in the last two years since losing a close one to Canelo at at limit of 155 back in July 2014. since then he has defended his title 4 times. he fought Ishe Smith boxrec ranked 14th in the world. Smith wasn't top 10 so that was a mediocre title defense. Then Lara defended his title against Rodriguez, ranked 41st by boxrec and recently quickly and easily KOed by Cotto. That is such a weak title defense it shouldn't even count. Then Lara defended his title against 24th ranked Zaveck, another very weak opponent. Finally he fought a decent contender in 9th ranked Vanes. So if Lara fights a top contender in J-Rock it's long overdue.
The fight isn't off it said Charlo had an eye injury. But yea if he doesn't fight then Lara would be good. But ibf is kinda strict sometimes, the next guy in line is tony Harrison
Nah Jermell said he would never fight him either. I'm talking J-Rock vs Lara.
He said that when they were training together. He has since left Shields. He probably said the same thing when Shields was training Vanes Martirosyan. And they fought last year.
Like the fight a lot. Doubt we see it next though. J-Rock's eyes are on the IBF strap, but would love to see a unification between the two of them. Maybe in the next year or so we can get a definitive guy at 154. In my mind Lara, J-Rock and Andrade are the 3 best guys in the division and they need to fight sooner rather than later.
True. J Rock vs. Harrison is not a bad fight. I'd actually prefer Charlo to move up because right now, we can't get any unification because 3 of the title holders won't fight each other. Remove the Charlos from the division and we can get Lara/J-Rock/Andade/Harrison matchups. Then you have Lubin on the rise too.

Williams said his next fight is for the IBF. Be if Charlo or Tony Harrison if Charlo vacates.
Charlo will not fight Lara because both are trained by Ronnie Shields. There is a chance the other Charlo could fight Lara in the future as he now trains with Errol Spence.
