What people need to understand is that styles make fights. After the Spence-Bundu fight I see lots of people saying Spence would beat Thurman because he stopped Bundu quicker, which is ridiculous.
Styles make fights and Thurman, contrary to his nickname, is actually mostly a very flashy out-boxer/mover who happens to have a huge punch. It's not his style to cut off the ring and break you down on the inside, he prefers to stay on the outside and ambush you when there's an opening.
Spence on the other hand is a country-boy, a brutal inside fighter who will walk you down, cut the ring off, bully you and maul you up close. Given his style, of course he was going to stop Bundu, who is 41 and doesn't have the fastest feet.
It's one thing to cut the ring off on Bundu and Algieri, but Thurman's movement and foot speed is on a different level to these guys. Thurman himself packs a hell of a punch, and Spence has been hit before by uppercuts and right hands. If Spence tries to go to Keith's body he leaves himself open to Thurman shots.
So overall I still favor Thurman over Spence, I think Thurman could pull off a decision win but it would be hard, similar to the Porter fight. Spence would have trouble cornering Keith.
Rubbish! That is the most absurd thing I ever heard.
Then you don't know what your watching then, Porter has the quicker feet, Spence's foot speed doesn't even stand out. Physically Porter isn't lacking at all, he has all the physical tools, his IQ and not slowing down his attack is the only thing that hurts him.
Spence people keep talking about his body attack Thurman put down Chaves with a body shot he put down Quintana with a body shot he made Diaz quit with body shots Thurman will test Spence chin and body if they fight
Thurman is good at getting under punches and forcing fighters to smother their attack, I don't think he'll get beat up on in the ropes. Just something about Thurman's looping shots that makes me like his chances. It's difficult to really make a prediction when Spence is yet to face a puncher, let alone a fighter of Thurman's quality.
it's definitely an intriguing fight and nowhere near the destruction people are predicting, it has a Matthysse vs Garcia feel to it
The problem for Keith is I don't think he's better than Spence at any range, so regardless of whether or not Spence can cut the ring off and get close to Keith, I think he's gonna get the better of it, not by a lot, but I think he's better inside and outside. Thurman's best chance would be to circle Spence and shoot from angles.
I do think it'll be competitive though, Thurman will land his shots and won't go down without a fight, we've already seen that.

Not sure how this one would go since Spence is still unproven, on top of that Spence brings a better offense than anyone Thurman has faced. As a fan of Thurman, I like his chances because Spence stands too straight up, doesn't move his head/ upper body, Thurman's overhand rights can find it's target.

There's no way in hell Porter has quicker feet than Spence, it aint even close! Did you see how quickly Spence closed down Algieri when he tried to run just prior to the end of the fight? This is the same Algieri that was able to outrun Pacquiao and continously chase down Khan. Sure Thurman is probably faster than Algieri on his feet, but hell nah Porter is faster than Spence, I can't even fathom in what world such a thing is possible.
Cutting off the ring better doesn't mean quicker feet, Porter is clearly quicker on his feet.
Thurman is a good fighter and Spence looks like he can be hit. Spence is skilled also, an could hurt Thurman to the body you would imagine.
Right now, i'd slightly lean to Thurman. It's a fight id like to see it.
Outrun? Algieri got dropped 6 times by Pacquiao, lolol....you call that outrunning? Pac took pitty on him and coasted down the stretch, he could have easily stopped Algieri had he chosen to.
Nonsense! Pacquiao was at a point where he hadn't a KO in years and was being called into question because of it. Not to mention that roach been predicting KO's since the last KO, aint no way they didn't want to get that KO. They didn't get it because they couldn't, plain and simple.
Would it be a shock?
Thurman is ranked above Spence right now and has just beaten a fighter that is a far higher calibre of opponent than Spence has been in with.
Spence looks good so far with limited opposition. He does get hit a lot and if he is that easy to hit against Thurman, then he's going to need a granite chin.
I think people need to lay off the Spence hype for a bit. The threads people are making now about Spence almost verbatim versions of ones made about the likes of Broner 3 years ago, and we saw how that's turned out.
I don't know about this fight. Thurman isn't progressing like most expected him to from a few years ago (since the shoulder surgery). Meantime, Spence still hasn't had a top 10 WW to fight. Algeri struggled with Erik Bone, and was never that special to begin with, and Bundu was 41 years old and not that active.
"no bro Spence knocked Bundu out. That's how it works BRO, if Thurman coukdnt knock Bundu out and Spence did that means that Spence would beat Thurman."
Book: The logic of an idiot.
Chapter:1
thurman is not a huge puncher
I agree but it doesn't matter, he has enough power to hurt and KO every fighter in that division.
That said, Spence would beat him IMO.
