How much does being strong matter in a physical confrontation with a stranger? I'm talking about overall strength aka general strength.
I ask this because I got into a fight at the market moments ago with a short Mexican dude. He got disrespectfully close to me as I was paying for my groceries
"BACK OFF!" I told him loudly.
"Shut the **** up and pay for your ****," he barked.
At that moment I said **** the groceries.
"Back up, you idiot."
As soon as I uttered the word idiot, he pushed my shoulder, displacing me and causing me to stagger.
I quickly regained my balance and retaliated with a stronger push.
Before I could bring my hands back he rushed me, catching me off balance. He grabbed me with overwhelming force and was manhandling me even though he is only about 5'7 and I'm 6'0 barefoot, 6'1 with shoes on.
Instantly I knew I was in trouble. For a little dude he was really strong and energetic.
I got scared.
I felt like I was drowning.
My arms and body got tired from all the grappling.
I felt like I was going to be choked unconscious so I started screaming for help.
"HELP!"
"HELP!"
A black guy in his thirties wearing black shoes, slacks, dress shirt, and tie heard me panicking and offered only advice to me and not help pulling the guy off me.
"Just whoop his ass, my man."
The guy got tired and loosened his grip on me, so I instantly bucked out of his grasp and assumed a boxing stance. He expended a ton of energy trying to hold down and choke out a bigger man.
A second wind overcame me and revitalized me. I swarmed him and let my hands fly. Straight right hands, hooks, and uppercuts.
The tables have turned. I was coming on strong and connecting hard punches on his face, body, and back. With his face getting cut and bruising, he retreated.
I ditched my groceries and ran to my car.
I've been home for two hours now and am wondering how much strength comes into play in street fighting.
Floyd woulda hit that guy with a straight right and rolled out the way so fast he woulda gone into the counter Hatton style.
lol................
you got your ass kicks and ran like a little b1tch..lmfao

You sound like you are talking about a schoolyard fight. People carry cellphones with a pack of wolves nearby, they carry pepper & bear spray, brass knuckles & knives. That doesn't include the people with guns. Getting into street fights is not the brightest move in today's world. Just stay out of trouble. You are lucky he didn't shank you. Heck if he got your plate number on your car if he is connected he could be coming to your house soon. This time with a gun....
If some dude bumrushes you, aiming to take you down, guide his head to your knee and crack him HARD.
GAME OVER.
Be sure to call an ambulance though, you may have just killed a guy.
palm punching people to the nose is pretty much a fight ender. could be a life ender if done ''properly''. no one ever expects it.
I noticed I screwed up I meant Your hands tend to hurt more when old
Prolly he was as heavy as you or heavier. We humans are truly insane hahaha :D We should not be putting our lives at risk for such simple shii1 but it happens. Felt bad for the mexican.
And i see once again all the posters are suddenly zhen shaolin monks who devoted themselves to fighting.
When you got pushed you should have punched him in the face. That would have ended the **** right there and then. If you don't know how to grapple then yes you will get out muscled. If you can't fight then learn to be a little bit more patient and how to speak to people. If you thought because dude was smaller then you that you had the fight in the bag you just learned the first lesson in street fighting. You better be glad you didn't come across someone that really knew how to fight or you would have been screaming for help from a hospital bed. Go practice "Please" and "Thank You" you will do a lot better in life.I agree with this. If the guy wasn't actually touching you in line then you shouldn't have yell at him. He was only going to be too close to you for a few seconds. He probably didn't mean any offense by standing close to you. Some people just stand close to the guy in front of them in line without even thinking about it. If I got into a fight every time someone stood very close to me in the checkout line then I would get into a fight every time I went shopping.
Well, in a street fight, if you hit someones face with your bare hands, chances are you'll break your own hand--which is probably worse than some bruises.
If you happen to miss their face while letting your hands go(such as hitting an arm or something) within a tight window of time, you'll be susceptible to whatever maneuvers they'd like to pull.
I don't recommend boxing in a street fight. It's not even really actual fighting to be honest. It has its gentleman rules. A street fight doesn't necessarily hold standards as high as to boxing.
I got in 100's of street fights and I never threw a straight punch it would destroy your hands. right crosses and left hooks save your hands. I ripped tendons in both hands 3-4 times but mostly from stupidly punching walls
