Deontay Wilder is still open to facing Alexander Povetkin but it will have to be in the U.S. on his terms, he told ******.com.
Wilder was supposed to defend his heavyweight title against Povetkin on May 21 in Moscow. The bout was canceled just days before after Povetkin tested positive for the banned substance Meldonium. The two camps have since exchanged lawsuits over the fight’s cancellation. Wilder considers Povetkin unfinished business.
“I would love to still fight Povetkin,” Wilder told ******.com on Wednesday. “To be honest, I think about it all the time. I was very confident going into his country, behind enemy territory and I was going to prevail. It was almost going to be similar to the (Chris) Arreola fight. Both guys don’t really move their head. Povetkin is right there in position for me. He’s perfect for my style, for my awkwardness and what I’m able to do.”
Wilder (37-0, 36 knockouts) stopped Arreola after eight rounds on July 16 in a stay-busy fight while the WBC investigates the failed drug test. “I was so ready to represent my country and myself when I went over to Russia,” Wilder said. “I was definitely going to destroy him. Now, I’m definitely looking forward to us getting it on again. I would love to fight the guy.”
Wilder said if he does fight Povetkin again, it will have to be in the U.S. “Most definitely,” he said. “We gave them the opportunity and their chance. They blew it. Now it’s time (for him) to come to America. He’s never fought in America. So it will be his debut here and it will definitely have to be on our terms. That’s for sure.”
Wilder should focus on his injuries, rehabbing a broken hand and torn bicep is no easy feat. That said, I'd give him the edge over Povetkin if he returns close to his original form...
cause it gives him excuse to make some easy money fighting more bums, had an easy few rounds against burger king arreola instead of in russia knocked out cold on the canvas
Povetkin is a bum though.

Wilder is correct. The fight must take place in America after what Povetkin tries to get away with. He lost his chance to pick the venue
Prove that he cheated before running your mouth.
Wada says he is Clean. Wait for WBC.
Beyond that as Panda said.... It does not matter what he or Povetkin wants... the only thing that matters is which promoter is willing to put up the most money.
This. VADA, the best anty dopping agency in the world says everything is ok with Povetkin, as it should be because he didn't do anything against the rules, but Wilder supporters think they know better. They decided Povetkin is a cheater, because they said so. GTFO, most of the boxers are probably on something anyways, it may be the case with Povetkin too, but guess what? Wilder could be too.
This particular case doesn't show Povetkin did anything wrong. WADA &/or VADA didn't allowed a certain ammount of meldonium in athletes body for nothing, they are saying it can stay in an athlete's body for many months but I guess you couch scientist know much better! This case doesn't prove that Povetkin's dirty, it only shows your biasness, you are butthurt and YOU WOULD LIKE HIM TO BE DIRTY. You maybe want to say that VADA is corrupted? You mistaken it for USADA. You are showing your biasness because you are butthurt.
It's really only fair. Povetkin was the one who ruined the first time they were suppose to fight. If Povetkin doesn't get flagged, they fight. It isn't Wilders fault. He was the champion and still was willing to go to Russia. Povetkin blew it.
Thats not how it works. Either you win the purse bid & command where the fight takes place or you take your chances & if you stick to your word & the fight gets put back in Russia you get stripped.
Although to be fair with all the bs with Povetkin (pushing back the fight cuz he wasn't ready + all this substance stuff) & with the potential of a fight with Joshua, Fury or Klitschko by the time his injuries have healed at can't fault him for steering into bigger challenges/fights. Povetkin will just end up fighting for the vacant WBC belt eventually in that case & with Wilder's injuries I wouldn't be surprised if Povetkin gets put into a interim title fight now if the WBC is stilling doing those (I can't keep up with that bs so idek).
If they had have fought in November last year Povetkin would have legally been able to use the PED he tested positive for.
This is still the biggest payday for Wilder, it will happen.
wilder never wanted to fight povetkin in the lions den. tbh i doubt he ever wanted to fight povetkin at all, was christmas come early for deontay when that failed test came through
Well he's not making any money. So I can not see how it's Christmas

Sometimes I wish Boxers stick to boxing and leave the business to those who actually get them paid.
I really think Wilder has no ****ing clue about science or business.
Science? Business?! This guys is from Alabama. Those two words don't mean anything in that dump.
Povetkin should fight in the USA since he cheated

Wilder's hand is getting worse and worse. I am not sure how he'll do verse Povetkin now. He better fight him soon because his hand is gonna force him into retirement early I think.
Wilder is ducking.
Please explain how he is ducking
Deontay Wilder had no intentions of ever fighting in Russia.
Please explain..he was in training camp to fight there where Povetkin fvcked the fight up...please tell me how you are twisting this
