I was re-watching this fight on my lunch break and I have to say, dang this was a fun fight to watch. Chinos a mad man and damn Floyd is tough. Props to Weeks too, great ref! If your arm(s) free, punch a way!!
With that said, do you think the second fight would've been different if Weeks were the ref again?
Hell of a fight. Personally i always seen it as a draw. Wasn't mad that Floyd won though since rds were close and he adjusted but man was it close.
The way i always seen it was Floyd won the fight but I'm sure Chino felt better than him after. Maidana was a wild man who didn't show Floyd any respect. Beat him up bit really. Money May is a hell of fighter who showed toughness that day. Not many fighters could handle Maidana on that night. Wish he were still in the mix but don't blame him for making his money and settling down
Yeah man I dont know of any WW today that could take that punishment and adjust. But I am glad Chino is fat and happy, not to many guys retire on their own note nowadays. I probably likes like a king in Argentina getting pedicures and stuff lol

Loved that fight, Still got it on my DVR , All around good card too
Maidana was 100% IDGAF mode doing whatever he could to get the W even crossing the line of being dirty. Floyd stuck to his promise that he was going to stay there make it a fight ( Probably to one up and mind f.uck Broner )
Maidana made Floyd earn that W
Great showing by 2 Champs
It was actually a good clash of styles and Maidana's style actually showed that Floyd is almost 40 years old i think.
Didn't Chino say recently that Floyd has the best chin of anybody he fought?
Floyd definitely did win it in the end, he did enough, but he had a very rough night.
Without question.
Yes, Mayweather was better in the rematch. Doesn't mean Maidana was not allowed to fight his fight. Bayless jumped in immediately every time and Mayweather made no effort to fight inside for most of it. I don't recall him ever spoiling like he did in the Maidana rematch. It was so bad it gave the Pac fans an excuse to pretend the same thing happened when he fought Mayweather.
Yeah man. I think Bayless is a decent ref but I think after Mayweather expressed his discontent with Weeks, Bayless felt he needed to appease to Floyd or lose his status of being a top level 3rd man. Hell Bayless even got some T.V. time leading up to the fight.
Clanked everywhere I agree but I highly doubt meaninglessly lol the looks on their face were priceless. Besides, I think it was just fun to watch really, Im not saying it was a masterpeice by either man, just a crazy pace and underrated meaning just that.
crazy pace? Frampton v Quigg was a crazy pace, Morales v Barrera was a crazy pace, Khan v Maidana was a crazy pace. That was hardly a crazy pace.
Personally I think the ref was the main difference in both fights...
Without question.

It was an awesome fight; Floyd may have won, officially, but every time I think of that fight, the only thing that comes to mind is "Mayweather got beaten up."
Yeah man that was one of those fights and where you can definitely say you wouldve rather have been Maidana after that fight. I know Floyd had to be aching after that fight. Floyd did crack Chino good too but I think Chino had taken worse than that before, Ortiz and Khan hit Maidana with some crazy stuff. Dudes a freak.
Forget the pillow gloves he forced Maidana to use. Maidana had to put vaseline in his hands because the gloves didn't fit in his hands. Why didn't you talk about that?
Also about the 26 foot ring.
Maidana fought 35 guys, including Broner, Khan, you name them. Only Floyd Mayweather forced him to use different gloves.
But he was tough.......
yep those gloves are why Maidana lost!!!!!!!! so sad he couldn't wear those blue ones.
A really good fight.
The only fight Floyd arguably lost aswel as the first Castillo fight.
Maidana did great. No one expected him to trouble Floyd. I did. I knew he'd be one of his toughest fights.
a win for chino would've been nothing crazy in the first fight. i don't get why people say "he put up a good fight but wasn't enough" in a passive aggressive way to diminish his work.
frampton beat a santa cruz that never stop throwing the other day and a lot of people have leo winning that fight and i'm willing to bet that many of those had floyd beating maidana.
All I know is Floyd couldn't wait for that fight to be over. It did not go as planned. I think Maidana surprised him at how much better he is, in the fight versus how he looks when you watch him. He actually fought a beautiful fight and was doing well not getting tagged with clean shots himself even though after the 8th round the fight for away from him and Floyd claws his way back into the fight but there's no ****ing way that was an 8-4 Floyd fight as most the score cards suggested, that was a draw type fight. There was no clear winner there but of course Floyd got backyard love, per usual.
7-5 for maidana or at worst, a draw, you're right
Yes, Maidana would have knocked him out cold.
Mayweather likely faked or exaggerated the hand bite. I mean, come on how can you bite through padded boxing gloves with a mouth piece? He was stalling because he was rocked by two Maidana hooks.
The video is right here proving it.
don't forget the pillow gloves too

yup, good fight, we got to see Floyd lose 7-5.
Lets be honest, Maidana only had success in that fight because Mayweather allowed him to. He could have easily done what he did in the second fight but chose not to.
I thought Maidana won a lot of exchanges when the fight was in the middle of the ring. He scored often and did great work.
He's talking about the first fight you dumb ****, there wasn't much clinching at all, Mayweather fought Maidana at his own game and won.

If Floyd is to tough why did he force Maidana to use pillow gloves?
Why did he have to clinch maidana 70+ times?
He pussied...
