I can understand the anger some of you have but there comes a point where nearly every 2nd post is just vitriol and pretty disgraceful posting.
I signed up pretty recently after being just a reader for a while because some of the posts are just mental.
I think some of you need to direct your hate towards the management of the sport itself and less so towards the boxers themselves. A couple key points on this.
1. IT IS 2016, IT IS INCREDIBLY HARD TO MAKE A FIGHT BETWEEN TWO TOP GUYS. The reason you're seeing so many one sided defences and title fights is because it's not easy for these guys to fight other top guys. These guys are being managed by business men, not boxing men. I HATE the cherry picks. I hate the weak resumes of nearly all the top guys. My favourite fighters in GGG, Kovalev etc... These guys have such poor resumes in comparison to their skill set... This can be partly because of management and also a big part is because...
2. THE BUSINESS/FANS ARE SO FICKLE THESE DAYS, just one loss can be so damaging to a career if guys want to be at the 'top'. We live in the age where you're either a bum or a god. Some "fans" are so bipolar that their is no in between in their eyes. I've seen posts saying Lemueix, Groves, Eubank, Breazeale, Porter etc are bums... Jesus. Bums? These type of guys have always been around. Not elite, but good high level guys capable of giving the top guys good fights. Every sport has them.
3. ABC belts have given these companies and some of the top guys a false sense of what they want to be making as a fighter. Everyone thinks they are worth more but no one wants to take the risks to build their name because a loss is so damaging. Back when, there was one champ per division. HE MADE THE MONEY. You want that money? You climb the ranks and take that belt. Nowadays, you got 4-5 "champs" per division, half of which couldn't even be named by some fans. But because of those paper titles these guys think they should be earning 5mil a fight.
Now having said all of that... Some of these boxers aren't daring to be great.. But instead of the hate, have a think about why. It's unfortunately the nature of boxing at the moment. I don't blame these guys. I blame the sport itself. Hope to hear some level headed discussion and if I've missed anything love to hear some thoughts?
Cheers guys.
I already explained but I'll do it one last time.
If you're going to quote me, do it properly, because I said it's wrong that we label fighters bums FOR LOSING TO TOP OPPONENTS.
I labeled Wilder's opposition as bums. Are you going to argue that he hasn't fought bums? Because if you want, we can go there but I know
I really couldn't careless about Wilder, You can try and twist it that way but am sorry am not carrying that bait. Am not in this thread to argue about Wilder because its not worth my time.
I only pointed out the irony of your post to you. Now i didn't expect a rant but am more mature reply.
That's why i put "No offence" at the end of my original post. I don't really want to deviate from the original OP thread, that's why i rather not discuss boxing with some posters on here.
But if i can't have a mature discussion or disagreement of opinions on here with posters then i would just leave them to it, the name calling, trying to label people that you don't know etc just shows the sort of way your mind works. Am going to leave that post out there for people to make up their own minds.
When all else fail, you can either man up and acknowledge you were wrong. Or just go on a rant calling people names. I thought i could speak to people like adults and reason with them without getting an argument or name calling but this is what you get.... SMDH.

I labeled Wilder's opposition as bums. Are you going to argue that he hasn't fought bums? Because if you want, we can go there but I know you won't because you know they're bums. So there is no irony and you certainly don't know the meaning of the word if you think there is.
Now, I haven't simply labeled Wilder's opposition as bums for losing to Wilder and if you follow boxing, you know his 4 title defenses have been against journeymen...and Arreola, who is worse than a journeyman now. If you don't think they are bums, that's fine it just means you have a very, very low standard for what champions should be fighting.
I certainly agree that there is too much hate on this site when fighters lose, especially to other top guys and get branded bums. Just look at how Khan was treated, even though we should be applauding what he did. Then there is the whole racial bias, strongly divided by eastern euros and blacks who like or dislike fighters based on obvious points.
However, I can't call out the hate when top fighters don't fight each other and it's bs to say "oh well it's 2016". That's a terrible excuse. Just look at Framptons level of opposition or Froch in the past or the cruisers starting to consistently fight at a higher level. There is no excuse, especially when top fighters are getting paid millions to fight bums and then call out name fighters after fighting said bum...only to disappear or to make zero effort at actually making a fight.
Prime examples of boxing premadonnas include Canelo and Wilder. Canelo said he didn't **** around...then vacated his belt. Wilder, even after the Pov fight fell through, had the perfect opportunity to have a top defense, yet put in a 4th straight defense against a bum.
Does this sound right to you? No offence.
Are you telling me Wilder hasn't fought 4 bums in a row? His best defense arguably, has been a guy called Duhaupas who is barely a level above journeyman.
I know you're trying to make out like it was a contradiction but it wasn't, in fact, the part you highlighted, I clearly stated when a fighter loses against other top opponents. I made that very clear.
Do you understand now?
Not even going to get in an argument whether he fought "bums" or not. Am just pointing out the irony of your post.
You misunderstand the word irony if you think what I wrote was ironic.
You lot on here really do give boxing fans a bad name, the stereotypical uneducated wanabe thugs. SMH
Ok mate whatever makes you feel better. I suggest you look up the word irony and as well as hypocrite.

Great post! It's all about the money nowadays! Follow the trail, you'll see.

I have learn to not reply to the cra*p that i read on here, or the trolls that try to be clever. You don't even need to put them on ignore, just don't reply to those threads/post. Silence is the best answer for a fool sometimes. Just go in and discuss boxing with the ones who have shown that they are mature enough to deal with an arugment without hate or biase.
I agree. We can hate boxers, but they still deserve respect for the most part.
For example I hate Floyd, but I respect everything he's accomplished and he's one of the most brilliant and talented fighters I have ever seen. He's a diva and an uneducated piece of garbage, but he's still the best fighter of this era, or last era I should say.

My 10 year daughter was watching a TV programme the other day and as I sat with her and watched it, it quickly became apparent that the writers had styled the dialogue and character interaction on the solipsistic back and forth that you tend to find in the world of social media posts. There was no conversation as such, more a continuous stream of exclamation marked opinions.
That concerns me for the future. Specifically for what we are talking about here I have a handful of friends who are serious boxing fans. Of those only one of them has formed his love for the sport in an age of social media and internet forums. It may be a coincidence but he's the only one of us that badmouths boxers. The way he talks about fighters, the way he talks of the sport, the way he expresses his opinions seems governed by the interactions that he's used to having on social media.
If internet interaction was the the only opportunity I had to converse with boxing fans, I'd be convinced that the majority of boxing fans hate boxers. When DirkDigglerUK was posting on here, in one of his posts he stated that non of his friends are into boxing, that this is the only place that he could talk about the sport. I genuinely felt for the guy.
If you log off for a few months, as I do from time to time, when you come back it's startling to see how some previously decent posters have degenerated. They fall into the mode of interacting in a world governed by ideas of 'fanboys' and 'retards', 'cowards' and 'hypejobs'.
The thing is, with more and more people spending inordinate amounts of time interacting through social media rather than face to face (which is far more nuanced), what if the way fans think about the sport and talk about it in here becomes the norm out there? . . . Then we're really f*cked.
There are many things that I enjoy about this place and it does seem to have an addictive quality. But the balance has shifted for me. I enjoy coming on here and I'll continue to do so, but do I think I'd enjoy the actual sport of boxing more if I didn't? . . . I think the answer is probably yes.
Great post!
Hey, if anyone is interested - there is a thread on b0xingnews24 titled 'i am a boxing manager' its a Q&A (few years old) asking a manager about all sorts. It gives a great insight into the buisness side of boxing. Comes up first hit in google if anyone is interested.
Actually, wrong target audience. Where are them narrow minded hating fuks.. They should be made to read it.
Study without reflection is a waste of time, reflection without study is dangerous.
No, boxing doesn't need Mayweather and Pacquiao. New stars will emerge, it's just going to take time. I refer to this as a transitional period. Post Mayweather-Pacquiao. Where the other stars are getting close to retirement as well like Cotto and JMM, guys like Bradley are getting up there too. Most people saw this coming and it happens throughout boxings history; it's perfectly normal to have down periods after the bigger stars retire and an "era" ends.
There is a lot of upcoming talent and even more, the upcoming Olympics will produce stars for many years ahead. Remember, this will be the first Olympics in ages without headgear and pro style scoring, it's huge for boxing. We are going to see more coverage and more exciting fights in this Olympics than we have in years.
Guys like Canelo, Ward, Golovkin, Kovalev, Crawford, Thurman, these guys aren't going to carry the sport but they'll all make things interesting for the time being, while I think guys like Errol Spence, Anthony Joshua amd a few others will become the next truly big stars a couple years down the road.
So what boxing needs right now is a platform to consistently show the new talent and build them into future stars.
Boxing don't have TIME! By the time a new star emerges NOBODY in America at least will be watching at this rate in which the sport seems to really be declining here.
You can build new stars WHILE Mayweather and Pacquiao is active which is what should've been done but none of the Promoters was able to get that done during Mayweather and Pacquiao ERA. The Lack of unity in boxing also hurt it with all the promoters being Divided as well as Networks.
I'm not seeing that potential next Cross Over Superstar Yet to be honest, it is some talented guys in the ring but doesn't seem to have much Personality to get casuals interested but we shall see. I'm sure some new stars will emerge but the way boxing is right now, making a new Superstar is going to be extremely Difficult!
So by fans you're also criticizing yourself? Paradoxical approach...
You're right, the business side of things, meaning how promoters or a coach should guide the boxer on what he should do.
Golovkin and his collective apparently never understood, "talk is talk but can you walk the walk?"
To say nobody wants to fight Golovkin as the excuse to override all circumstances is very immature...
Do you appreciate the irony of you bringing your opinions on Golovkin - however valid you may feel them to be - to this particular thread?
There's something about the sport of boxing that brings out so much hate, it's crazy. NSB is probably an extreme examples but I see it on Facebook groups and Twitter as well.
Warning: Rant below
Whether it was Mayweather or Pacquiao, two of the greatest fighters in the modern era, to current guys like Golovkin and Ward, Kovalev, Rigondeaux and so on. It's one thing to dislike cherry pickers, those guys deserve the criticism, but to hate on clearly talented guys who obviously try to fight the best and/or continue to fight solid opposition, I just don't understand. Mayweather and Pacquiao, sure I understand each rabid fanbase took things to the extreme because they backed their guy so much, but to discredit the other person's entire career is just being delusional. No one can say Mayweather or Pacquiao were overrated, just makes you look like a jackass. Andre Ward is clearly one of the best fighters in the world. You don't like his style? So what, that doesn't change anything. Golovkin is clearly one of the best fighters in the world. Everyone knows his resume is lacking because top fighters simply would not fight him and yet people act like that isn't the case. Kovalev has beat everyone they put in front of him. He struggles a little bit in his last fight against a guy who is nearly impossible to look good against and now he's a bum? Sure. Deontay Wilder signed to fight Povetkin in Russia and Povetkin failed his drug test and yet it's Wilders fault. That is just embarrassing. Rigondeaux, like Golovkin, has struggled immensely to get anyone in the ring with him since Donaire, yet people say he's an idiot for not moving up in weight or he should completely change his style etc.
It drives me crazy being a fan of boxing at times. It's the greatest sport in the world but the business and the fans are so ****ed up.
This, a 1000 times.

great post! but....
welcome to "154-168 easy" doe!
You are part of the reason people talk like politicians, and politicians talk like they do.
Next we'll hear 'we are seeking an appropriate opponent at weight class not unreasonably exceeding practicable expectations at a date satisfactory with involved parties'
They said something and they fuked up. Get over it.
Intent is there, delivery not so much.
Boxing is in a nasty downward spiral here in the US and yes major part of it is the lack of respect from its own fans. If "Boxing Fans" do nothing but bash the sport why would new fans watch?
Boxing NEEDS Pacquiao and Mayweather to fight on because it is CLEAR that it is NO other Superstar to carry the sport and keep casuals interested
Preach it brotha'
They need to fix that lame performance on their first attempt. They have a shot at bringing in more fans to the sport. Provided their is less running and hugging in the part 2. They ruined the sport for the lack of performance, but they can make amends and fix boxing by showing a better effort and less fouling from Floyd.
They are as of now have the true responsibility to carry the sport and fix the sport that we love.
As Tyson has said, "as a boxer you have a duty to put on an entertaining fight. For the fans"
Boring fights will kill boxing.
