I'm a fan of this fight, I think it will be good, but something has to be said surely? Canelo came under blast for fighting a WW, (Rightly so) lol mostly from GGG fans, and now GGG himself is doing it, so is there some sort of hypocrisy going on? What's your thoughts guys?
Does someone really have to get hurt for ppl to start to understand how crazy the lack of respect for weight classes in boxing is getting?— Paul Malignaggi (@PaulMalignaggi) July 8, 2016
He's not wrong.
What are you his accountant now? Why the hell should you care how much another man gets paid? You their woman or something? Are you a grown man or a kid?
ANYONE but this one. A contender at 160. A top guy at 154, then there's 168.
There were tons of other options for him.
I don't care at all about money, but HBO and others do, the TV industry do, and the issue is that fights don't get made because fighters ask for millions and they have to be PPV in order to make them and even like that it can flop.

I hope he's also calling for same day weigh in to return.
I hope he said the same when Mayweather fought a Marquez.
Oh so now it's about selling power I see?
You Golovtard Girls are all over the place, first it's about legacy, now it's about who sells more tickets.
No I'm not about selling power. Lara requests millions. He should be paid 1 million tops.
Explain what are the other fights?
Little G is a hype job. His team is always finding ways to say someone doesn't want to fight. Why not just call Saunders and Jacobs bluff and offer them the money they want? Why won't he call a fighter at 168 out? Why not call someone at 154 out? What happened to only being concerned with unification? Now his fans are using money as his motivation, when they bashed Floyd for years.
Golovkin didn't ask for this fight though... It was offered to Brook after JR refused, and Brook took it. Why then turn around and miss a scheduled fight date and a load of money?
It's sad to see a fanbase so desperate to protect a fighter they will excuse and spin anything. It's time to pack it in ladies, call Golovkin what he is and move on to the next great hype job. Maybe next time you won't be disappointed.
GGG has legit options too. Just because 2 or 3 guys won't fight you doesn't mean you fight a welterweight with one good win.
Tell me about the other options. Erislandy "I-don't-sell-but-I-want-big-money" Lara?
been dropped multiple times by feather fisted welterweights.
try again mudasucka.........
I remember he got hurt in a couple fights years ago but who dropped him?
I'm dissappointed in the fight, will troll Golovkin for taking it a bit and wont give him any credit if he wins.
Having said that though, truthfully I'm kinda excited. Brook is a legit fighter with great skills and pop. This could be an exciting fight to watch. Brook is a big Welter while Golovkin is a small MW (he was what, 164 at 30 day weigh in?). There will be a size disadvantage but it wont be the David vs. Goliath that Khanelo was. And the styles can lead to some good fireworks.
So yeah, I'll talk sh1t about it, but I do want to watch this. lol
Oh I will watch it lol. Huge props to Brook, but I just don't see anyway he can win this fight.
Canelo had a lot of legit opponents at 160 and at 155. He chose the easiest route and fight Khan.
GGG tried to fight any Top mw. They all came to the press saying "I need more money I need more time etc". The same promoter from Eubank jr offered Brook because there was not an agreement with the Eubanks.
I wouldn't blame it on GGG. You would, I guess, ignoring all the context and all that has happened in the last 7 years in the MW division.

The title of this thread is "Does GGG deserve the same scrutiny as Canelo?'
I don't care what happened in 2009.
This fight is just as bad as Canelo/Khan. If you supported Khanelo, you should support this. If you hated Khanelo, you should hate this.

Marquez is the guy who went on to campaign at 147 isn't he?
Marquez is the guy that went right back to 135 after the Mayweather fight and fought at some WW Catchweights years after the Mayweather fight.
Mayweather vs Marquez was worse than this. Were you so offended by that? All top dogs in Mw avoided Golovkin.

#6 Welterweight vs #1 Jr. Middleweight for Middleweight title at catchweight. No precedent for that friend.
Fuq catchweight says Brook and Golokvin, we doing it at 160lbs like fighters of yesterday.
This is a legit comparable to Leonard vs Hagler, unlike that fraud comparison of Canelo vs Khan.
:lol1::lol1::lol1:
Don't even know how to appropriately respond to this.
I could be wrong, but from what i gather from statements by DeGale and Hearn. Is that Haymon is'nt really involved if DeGale fights in the UK. I'm sure he gets his piece being DeGale's manager, but negotiations etc are up to Hearn. DeGale has expressed interest in the fight as well. I don't know for sure, but seriously ****ing bummed out by this fight.I'm dissappointed in the fight, will troll Golovkin for taking it a bit and wont give him any credit if he wins.
