Basically, what has put boxing in this bad state right now? Casuals are not watching at all and diehards are complaining more than ever, some even jumping ship to other sports.

the pussification of the sport spearheaded by the Mayweather and supported by the ghetto black youths of america.
Now all these boxers who come out of these ghettos in america immediately want 30million guarantee for their first real fight or else no fight.
The pussification by Floyd lol good one
There are lots of issues with boxing, the biggest one is the puzzyfication of boxing, the boring safety-first styles. Excessive clinching/holding without actually in-fighting and RUNNING is damaging boxing. Those issues have to be dealt with someway or boxing will continue to stagnate and alienate many fan bases.
Perfection. You my friend brought out the illness now let's find the cure!
Basically Floyd turned boxing into a money grab marathon hugging event that resonated around the world. Ruined boxing and turned boxing lose a few steps. It didn't go forward it actually went backward. Add the cherry picking low risk path of less resistance fighters now a days are following the Floyd mayweather diva ways. That's why boxing went tumbling down to what we are now.
Been watching fights live for over 45 years, I'll take mine for actual experience!
The guy is not a boxer who fights he's a boxer who runs. Defensive specialists is another word for "no power won't fight"!
Pep was a defensive specialists and was on the move all the time but he also out scored his opponents similar to Ali and when they felt they could stop their opponents they went for it.
When your (Floyds) corner man is begging you to do something and you don't comply to his experiences just call it what it is!!!
His own corner thought he lost!
I didn't watch that closely because the out come was predetermined
, I'm just happy the guy is gone.
The ducking is one of the most obvious reasons, crazy scoring/ripping off boxers, only fighting once or twice a year if that.
If these guys got paid a little less per fight but were more active and on TV more, they would gain more exposure and start to build a rapport with the fans. People wonder why GGG is gaining so much momentum, well he fights twice as much as the other guys for starters.
How can anyone blame Pac-May when you have things like Jones-Hopkins II and Holyfield-Tyson that took just as long. It didnt stop all the people Manny and Floyd introduced to the sport from getting into.
Boxing used to be a premier sport in the US, now it's a niche sport. I don't like it, but I accept it. It is what it is.

I disagree I think its pu$$ys like canelo who will duck and dodge a fight in every way imaginable and ignorant confused ghetto mexicans than support his b!tch @ss
A mixture of the following:
1. The diva effect - originated with SRL, enhanced by DHL, Perfected by Mayweather, take to another level by Canelo and the current crop of boxers. To name a few: Quitto, Lara, GG to an extent, Ward, Quillin so on and so forth you get the picture. These guys have created a generation of duckers and dodgers to make money for themselves simultaneously killing the sport.
2. The PPV model: This has been ****ed up, **** fights are on PPV and no one is buying them. Nobody asked for half of Canelos fights, I give GG a pass cause it was his first time and he wont go back unless its a big fight (K2 learnt their lesson). Pac Bradley trilogy. May-Berto etc. And its not that you have to always have a head turning matchup every time. At least have solid undercards so people get their value for money.
3. AL Haymon/GBP/HBO/Bob Arum/SHO Beef: This maybe the biggest root cause matchups are prevented, and if they are made over a prolonged period of time. With the UFC as soon as a fighter has a fight. A week or 2 later they are signed up to fight 3 months down the line. They need to break these delusional barriers work together and make more money than they would competing against one another.
4. UFC: Though i'm not fully convinced UFC is taking over, I think its just the lack of intriguing boxing matches that makes the UFC seem loud publicly. People are talking about it more cause mad stuff is always going on in the UFC. Now if we had 50/50 match ups like Thurman/Porter the tide would change.
Ohhh Yeah i forgot May Pac sort of left a sour taste in the casual fans mouth. So that left a nice steaming turd on boxing...
Pussification of America + May/PAC was a horrendous fight by both guys. I personally loved how technical it was, but that's all it was going to be. This wasn't 2009 when both guys could stand in the pocket and trade.
Willie Pep never needed correction fluid to be the best defensive fighter of all time.
and never needed steroids to not get hit and KO anyone
Agreed, which was my point. There was no reason for Floyd to juice to do what he does. If he did, he's just a moron, but he was gonna win that fight based on being the better boxer with the better defense.
I would say biggest downfall in boxing is simply fights not getting made.
You can go through and list all the reasons fights aren't getting made, but that's a huge reason why boxing is struggling.
We'll have to wait who Danny Garcia fights next, then we can confirm that boxing is truly fkd up if he fights another sub par opposition. The other Danny, Jacobs, is rematching Mora, so that guy is pretty much out of the picture. There's also Lara who avoided guys in his own stable, Charlo brothers, Williams, Andrade. Let's see who they come up with for his next fight.
Broner vs Guerrero could be an interesting fight. I won't mind seeing it.

I think the basic complaint with the hard core is we want to see people the best fight the best when there still a danger to each other. As far as casuals I hate to say it but the truth is quite simple. Casuals get bored because there are to many slick style boxers. To them it just stinks out the joint.
The UFC isn't responsible for boxing being dead in America. They simply highlight just how much of a joke boxing looks in comparison. If boxing actually delivered compelling matchups on a consistent basis, had real structure and actually marketed and promoted fights/fighters properly then it would be doing a hell of a lot better than it is now.
In all honesty, boxing deserves to be in the state it's in right now. All the selfish, self-serving f*cks - the promoters, managers, networks and boxers themselves - involved bled this sport dry without ever investing anything back in.
Seems to be going strong in the UK though, those crowds are pretty impressive to see every time they have a card on tv.
That's because Hearn, whether people like him or not, is one of the very few boxing promoters who is actually good at his job. He's an excellent salesman.
The biggest downfall is fans , there is more idiots today than ever before , one would think the internet would make them wiser and more knowledgeable but nope its just multiplied the retarded fanboys 10 fold .
I cant be bothered posting in here much any more , funny thing when you step away from here for a bit and just drop in now and again you really see how childish it is in here .
Well the latest was the May-Pac PPV...it was just a complete dud. Neither guy did anything and it cost $100!!!
The rise of The UFC has obviously taken away the luster of Boxing in the USA at least. Seems to be going strong in the UK though, those crowds are pretty impressive to see every time they have a card on tv.
That's a good counter point. Frampton/Quigg + AJ's recent fights have been in front of hyped up sell out crowds.
Thank you for that very racist and completely inaccurate assessment.
This applies to literally ZERO Black fighters and guys like your guy Canelo and Amir Khan are the only ones I see ducking competition.
Now, this is the truth. There is no sport in America that would survive if it was only seen on HBO/Showtime and PPV.
They know that. The only people still whining about Mayweather/Pacquiao are the people who wanted Manny to be their savior and knock out the ****y, arrogant, rich Black guy they all hate.
Anybody who's ever watched a Floyd Mayweather fight knew how it was going to go and it went EXACTLY as it would have 6 years ago.
Yes, Floyd had to take "correction fluid" to be the best defensive fighter of his generation.
it takes a lot of steroids to not get hit and never knock anyone out.
Willie Pep never needed correction fluid to be the best defensive fighter of all time.
and never needed steroids to not get hit and KO anyone
Boxing nowadays is just about watching how some people make their living. Big wins lead to fighting a long list of cab drivers, keep them getting employed. Thurman vs Porter. Big effing deal. He should have fought Brook, who beat Porter.
In fairness to Thurman he did call out brook soon as he beat porter, even said he would come to the UK....brook n hearn acted all for it then the stabbing happened
