It appears Arum wants to bring Lomachenko back two more times this year. And he's going to have Todd Duboef speak to HBO/Time Warner about it.
He wants Loma to come back soon as in, 10 weeks soon.

This is the correct thing to do. They gained a lot of momentum on Saturday they just can't lose it like that.
Loma should be back in August or September is what I've been saying. Then end the year in November/December. Hopefully it happens.
WAR LOMACHENKO!!! :boxing:
Good luck getting HBO to pony up upwards of 1.5-1.7 million for those 2 fights just for him not even including his opposition and undercard....
It will be difficult without a doubt, but it can be done.
It depends on the opponent too. Someone like Berchelt shouldn't be getting a lot and Loma should take a paycut depending on the opponent. He should make less against Berchelt than against someone like Salido. The Salido rematch is way more marketable than Berchelt. People actually want to see the rematch.
I don't even think Salido would ask for much. He made 50K for Vargas, obviously he should make much more for a Loma fight, but Salido isn't going to be like Walters and ask for 1 million dollars.
Salido would probably be content with 400-550K. And he could keep whatever money from the Mexican TV. Salido would be one of the more expensive opponents and he deserves some good money.
Someone like Pedraza would cost more than Berchelt, but he doesn't have the name Salido has, so he should make less.
If they don't accept the money being offered then it's on them. It's not like they're making a lot in other fights.
Like how much is Pedraza making? I don't even think he's made more than 150K yet, so against Loma he shouldn't be asking for a ton more. I would say he's worth like 150-300K. Wasn't the purse bid for Pedraza-Smith won at 150K? Pedraza is better than Martinez, but he isn't as known as Rocky.
Realistically a lot of the potential Loma opponents shouldn't cost much, if they want to overprice themselves then it's on them. They lose a paycheck.
I'm just throwing out ideas and thoughts. I'm just giving estimations here. I think they could work it out if they really wanted.
That's good. That's why I cited Verdejo, who just fought last April, and was surprised to see him fight again just 2 months later. That's extremely rare these days in a sport where divas are being created for every winning fight. Where the hell is Danny Garcia, for example? Is he retired or what?
I honestly think everyone is having a difficult time finding dates. People don't want to admit it, but boxing is struggling right now.
I'm sure there are fighters content with only fighting a few times a year. Danny Garcia may be one of them. He doesn't seem to be in a rush. Garcia is one of the bigger names on PBC, so if he wanted a date he probably would get it.
Garcia is already a well recognized name, someone like Loma needs to stay more active to keep the momentum he just gained.
They wanted to keep Verdejo active this year since he lost most of last year due to injury. If they keep putting Verdejo in against that level of opponent then I would rather them just not waste money on him. That's my opinion.

No, it's not misleading. Arum wants Loma to have two more dates and he's trying to get them for him. Loma also wants to be back twice this year and he just wants to stay more active.
So both Arum and Loma want two more dates this year. Arum is not forcing Loma to fight two more times this year.
The article is about Arum and that's why I titled it the way I did.

i think loma confronted him. he seemed annoyed by his inactivity when kellerman interviewed him
i'm guessing berchelt or some other contender on an undercard in late summer/early autumn and then salido or walters as a headliner in winter
Can you explain this a little more? Not sure if I quite understood it.
Lomachenko is the one that wants to fight more, so he isn't being forced.
Then your title is misleading. It should read, "Loma wants 2 more fights this year."
I would love to see loma-Walters on the crawford-postal PPv undercard..
And then at the end of the year salido 2... If loma can win those, he is probably a lock for fighter of the year
One can hope! :boxing:
LOL.
The important thing, though, is that he fights more. He stays sharp and if he gains momentum he has to keep that momentum. If he fights every 6 months people will lose interest.
And there are plenty of good fighters at 126 and 130.
Yeah, I always feel young fighters (age and experience) should be fighting 4-5 times a year. Loma has already wasted so much time this year. Having said that, he should not be fighting prospect level opposition.
I was sceptical of Loma and even got a red K from some retards for that, when I've said that Lomachenko is getting too much praise and that we don't have to overhype the fighter for his own good. But if he'll revenge that Salido loss and if he'll get a scalp of Walters caliber (some solid fighter with undefeated status) then it's gonna be hard to remove him from my top 10 p4p list
I was discussing Berchelt with someone for the past few days. I wouldn't mind seeing that fight, especially since he is the mandatory. However, something gave us a feeling that Zanfer may want to keep Berchelt away from Loma for now.
Apparently Berchelt may be fighting Piriyapinyo, former Loma victim, in early July.
I would love to see Loma-Pedraza. Pedraza says he wants it, so why not give it to him?
If Loma gets and beats Pedraza and Salido this year, he could end up being Fighter of the Year. That would be hard to top. Especially if Vasiliy does it in impressive fashion.
So yeah I agree. Pedraza for August/September and Salido for the end of the year.
I agree and then in 2017 Loma can jump 135 and get a belt there for his 10th fight to make history as it seems very important to him to make history after that he can come down to 130 and clean it out.
I wouldnt mind seeing him against Pedraza or Berchelt

I don't think they'll want Loma to fight in the UK, they will probably want him to keep building in the US.
Is HBO showing the Vargas/Brook fight?
I doubt we see the Walters fight this year, we will unfortunately have to wait until next year most likely.
The most important thing right now is that Loma stays active. He created a lot of buzz on Saturday night they have to capitalize on it. Of course I expect them to give him good opponents not the Koasicha's of the World.
We'll probably see Loma again in August or September then he'll probably end the year against Salido. I would prefer the Salido fight to be the last one of the year, so Salido can rest up more. Who does Loma fight in August/September would be the real question.
This is all assuming Loma fights two more times this year, which hopefully he does.
Hopefully they can keep Loma active.
I wouldnt mind seeing him against Pedraza or Berchelt
Lomanchenko is must see t.v. I hope to see him possibly on the Vargas vs. Brook undercard? Hopefully we get Vasyl vs Walters by years end. Uncle bob knows how to make stars, hopefully Hayman has his pen & note pad handy...

Reading this thread you would think Rocky Martinez was a f*cking beast and a future HOFer and not some average paper champ who got 2 gifts vs Salido and went life and death with Miguel Beltran.
It's likely going to be against Berchelt, and if he wins that one, then he'll face Salido in a rematch later this year. Those are the two fights they want to get out of the way before moving up to 135.
10 weeks would put it in the middle of August, as another poster has already stated.
Plus, the Crawford-Postol undercard is already set.
Loma will probably be back in middle to late August or September.
I wouldn't mind that.
