The sad reality is, Burns is the legit WBA champ at 140. Broner lost his title on the scales in his last fight
I'm not sure why a lot of posters here are proclaiming British prestige for all these titles that shouldn't be around. Smith is another one. Some of these titlists don't even make the top 10. We should be celebrating how many top 10 fighters we have, because we have quite a few, as well as the fact that the Heavyweight Champion of the World is once again British
I now know why most of the British people don't support me, it's coz I'm a gypsy & don't fly the British flag, pic.twitter.com/K1ypfcNZm9— #Gypsyking (@Tyson_Fury) April 26, 2016
I'm pretty high on Mcdonell, but he's a title holder. He isn't even the legit WBA champion. But my problem with his resume is, he hasn't fought Payano, Moreno or Yamanaka, who all arguably just as good resumes at the weight. Theres no argument at all to suggest he's the best in the division, as much as I want him to be.
Yeah Brook and Degale are in a similar situation - their no.1 rankings (differ from place to place) are there because someone has to be no.1, other fighters lost and/or retired so they got it by default. Wins over Thurman/Garica and Jack would establish them as the man to beat in their divisions. Theres not much separating Brook/Thurman/Garcia, and Jack/Degale/Ramirez right now
DeGale and Jack are a step or 2 above Ramirez.
I personally have Bradley as no. 1 at welter but Brook is a firm second.
broner is the real wba champ. burns is just the fancy named interim champ

we have one real champ in tyson fury, and if they successfully unify titles in their next fights, then i'd call brook and degale de facto champions
i would also pick mcdonnell to beat yamanaka, but obviously the fight needs to actually be made before we can credit him for it. as things stand he's not even the #1 WBA bantam
also if frampton beats santa cruz i think he'll have the best featherweight win of anyone currently in the division
i'm proud of the depth of talent in UK boxing at the moment though. i think we certainly have more legit contenders in a wider range of divisions than we've had before in my lifetime at least. and judging by our amateur success in recent years this is not a blip but the beginning of a trend
Out of the list who are paper champions? I can say right away Fury and McDonnell are not paper champions.

Yep that's it, with Fury the real champion, DeGale arguably no.1 at 168 and Brook there and there abouts.

We have 1 world champion - the HW world champion Tyson Fury
The rest are title holders. Degale is close, but hasn't yet distanced himself from the pack. A win over Jack would do that
After Burns winning tonight, how many champs does that make it now? Can anyone list them....They have more than their share of champions for their size. I have no idea how many champions are living in the UK. I keep up with boxers I like not how many champions each nation has. I wouldn't get too carried away bragging on Burns. He isn't the best fighter at his weight and every time he fights a really good fighter he loses or gets a home country win he didn't deserve.

Smith is one of the least accomplished titlists.
If Bellew wins tomorrow, The UK can set the record for biggest amount of concurrent paper champs in boxing!

Anyone know if this is the first time the UK has title holders from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland all at the same time? I think this could possibly be a first but i'm not positive...
Must be. How many champs from Northern Ireland has there actually been?
