The Chavez that Kostya beat was a 38-year-old, shot, ring worn shell of the fighting machine he used to be. The bout happened after he had already lost to the likes of Willie Wise.
Prime Chavez was a whole different animal.
Chavez would get blitzed.
Tsyzu is just as physically strong and can keep him at the end of his jab and earn his respect coming in
Chavez used educated pressure...he wasnt a fvck it type pressure fighter like Hatton
Tyszu doesnt need time to think and Chavez was a bit too methodical.
It depends on how Kostya reacts to jcc punches. If he can take it, I'll give him more than a puncher's chance.
Kostya can punch and is very awkward with underrated boxing ability. His timing is also very good. His advantge is that he does not need to find jcc because jcc will be on his face.
I just imagine a good action packed fight.
i agree with this statement
Kostya Tszyu by stoppage or tko again.
I know Kostya fought Chavez in 2000 and stopped him but stylistically Kostya was a sharp shooter down the middle which is bad for a guy like Chavez who loves throwing wide hooks most of the time to the body.
Plus Chavez relied on size advantage at 130-135, but when he went up to 140 147 he didnt have that so his punches were not as effective against guys who were not smaller than him.
Look at both Mayweather fights, first at 130 and second at 140, Chavez won both by TKO and most of his fights at 140 ended with a KO/TKO victory for Chavez. I don't think his power was dramatically weakened at Jr. Welterweight.
Chavez was still very good in his early years at 140 but by the time he first fought at 147 in late 93 he was already getting rusty. Tszyu beat a shot Chavez and so I wanted to get some opinions on how this could have went had it been a prime Chavez and not the mummy Tszyu beat.

Can't see anything but a Chavez win. He beat every style of fighter at that time, and only the speed of Taylor caused him problems during those peak years.
