We all know he can knock him out, but can he outbox him?
He does have a good jab, good footwork, and the higher work rate. However Canelo has longer reach, faster hands, and is a great counter puncher.
Maybe cause ggg got outboxed by guys who where nowhere on canelos level? Go on YouTube and watch ggg get outboxed by nobodies prior to getting the ko.
Who? The closest that anyone ever came to outboxing GGG was Ouma, which it's fair to say was a fairly even fight through to about 8 rounds, but Ouma ain't a nobody - even the semi-shot version who boxed out of his skin that night.
In his last dozen or so fights GGGs probably lost a combined total of less than 10 rounds. And Canelo's solid and a good counter-puncher with decent handspeed but hardly a master boxer.
in spots, yeah but why give a non mover who fights in spurts and with questionable conditioning a chance to breath...i hope Golovkin takes risks all night....if he thinks he can just jab methodically at a slow pace and win, he clearlly hasnt seen how much credit canelo gets from the judges....
Key word is boxer as in the technical aspects of the sport and no GGG is not very skilled
How is he not technical? Technical boxer doesn't always = defensive counter puncher.
arguably the best offensive fighter in boxing with the most varied punch output isn't a skilled boxer?

Yes, I do think he CAN. But I don't think he will for enough to win the fight.
I do think he will have success in spots.
With the judging in Alvarez fights Golovkin's best hope is to knock Canelo cold and hopefully just may be get a Split Draw.
The amateur background and his skills including cutting off the ring and punch selection will seal the deal for GGG. I hope it lasts longer than 3 rounds but I think GGG will catch him and drop him.
No, canelo has good headmovement and can slip and counter but he has terrible cement feet. So he will get walked down by Golovkin and will end up on the ropes taking hard shots and will be forced to trade and probably will get hurt badly. It will be a good fight while it lasts
My mouth is salivating just thinking about it. Fcuk the ginger
i think GGG walks him down...he'll get caught with a couple of counters which wont do sh1t and when Canelo feels the power, he will be moving backwards for as long as he can..this will lead him to gas out even faster
It's going to be such a savage beating
Yall forgetting GGG is a better boxer than he looks....
It's odd because I don't see any flaws in GGG, but his haters see millions lol
I'm a Ward and GGG fan too

Didn't Candelita just get a KO after being thoroughly outboxed by a guy who had already been KTFO like 2 or 3 times before, lol? :dunce:
Didnt see anything that tells me he can outbox him neither of them are skilled boxers but both are good counter puncher
If GGG game plan is to make Canelo the aggressor than I could see him having some success but I doubt that's the fight will see
arguably the best offensive fighter in boxing with the most varied punch output isn't a skilled boxer?
That's exactly what canelo is expecting, canelo just needs one good counter to hurt ggg. Ggg being aggressive plays into canelos fighting style.
What? Based on what exactly? By the fact that golovkin has never even been staggered before or by the fact that Canelo couldn't even dent cotto? There's a reason Canelo has always fought smaller guys. His power is really nothing special and his handlers know this.
We all know he can knock him out, but can he outbox him?

His jab is a lethal weapon, a severely underrated one at that. His pressure and jab will have Candelita fighting off of the back foot for most of the fight. He will be tentative to start the fight and then when GGG lands the left either to the head or liver, the diva will be on his bike trying to potshot.
GGG will be stalking, throwing more shots, and slowly breaking the diva down. After 3 rounds of not letting his hands go, he will try to push his luck and GGG will hurt him, probably to the body. He'll retreat again and GGG will continue to control him with the jab.
GGG hurts him again in the 5th and follows up with combinations until Candelita is dropped to the canvas. He makes it to the 6th but GGG attacks him, putting him down again, this time for good.
where is this notion that canelo is a better boxer than a guy with over 300 amateur fights and a silver medal at the olympics is coming from? is like people are trying to fool themselves to believe that GGG is nothing more than a big puncher
in addition, when has Canelo become a power puncher that he'll hurt GGG with any clean punch he'll land?
