This has probably already been discussed a ****load but to settle the score vote in the poll and explain who you think won and why. Personally i think lara beat canelo in a close ass fight and even if you had canelo winning no way was it 117-111.
Canelo clearly won...
Lara is a p4p mirage,,, he looks the part but can't back it up.. Dude couldn't carve up williams, molina, Canelo, vanes, angulo yet we are supposed to think he is on the level of hopkins, floyd, rigo, Ward, etc... GTFO
He deserved to win against Williams.

I thought Lara won. However I feel he was penalized for his excessive movement. Plus we all know Canelo will always get the nod in a close fight. Hell Canelo got a draw from a judge in the fmj fight and we all know he got schooled by Floyd the entire fight.
Lara won
There is no way someone could give Canelo 7 rounds
If you gave Nelo the W you were either drunk, sipping on Ginger Sem.en during the fight or didn't watch
Canelo fans should just be happy he got a gift but don't pretend he actually won
if u go out your way to get a fight and say ur going 2 do a number on canelo he had to back up all that talk when he was getting landed on the body lara looked legitemately hurt all the **** lara talked you wouldve thought he would continue the approach hetook during 1st 4 rounds but when he felt canelos power was for real his eyes showed worry and fear of being floored remember angulo got him twice the rest of the fight he fought klike if he was 10 pts ahead and judges dont like that especially against an a side fighter who never stopped pressing caneloby 2 pts.

It's been a long time since I watched this boring PPV, but I remember thinking Nelo pulled it off by 1 or 2 rounds.
I thought Lara outboxed him the first 2 or 3 rounds, but then as soon as he felt Canelo's power he chose to backpedal the rest of the rounds. After that I think I gave him 1 or 2 rounds.
It was boring, it was terrible and it's the reason Erislandy Lara should never be allowed to headline an event again.
I think I had it a draw. But Lara didn't deserve to win. I was glad to see Canelo get it because he came to fight. Lara came to the biggest fight he'll ever have looking to win rounds by 3 shots to 2. Fuck that.
Canelo won it with his body attack. This is one fight I'd like to rewatch, but I can't find it anywhere online.
try searching on the video trading block forum of this site. it could still be up in a thread on there. theres also a crap-tastic tv version and the fan video that i posted above from youtube if you're looking for a stream.
Meh....comes down to preference.
Lara didn't do enough to take it from the sport's golden goose. Whether you thought he won 7 rounds or not it comes down to shining on the big stage and he didn't do that.
i had it 115-114 canelo.
i had the 11th round even, and i usually dont score even rounds. so other possible outcomes i could have had were 115-113 canelo or a draw. this fight wasn't a robbery by any means. it really comes down to whether you liked canelo's body punching or lara's head punches. i personally thought canelo did some great body work (i love body punching) and i gave him credit for being the aggressor. outside of the 11th round, i thought it was a fairly easy fight to score. the championship rounds were the deciding factor on my scorecard. pretty good fight considering the amount of movement lara gave.
as a side note, this score is based off of a video taken from inside the arena and not the televised version. it's actually a pretty nice quality video and no bias/persuasion from the commentators. i believe i had it a draw or 115-113 win for lara when i watched the showtime broadcast. close, close fight.
I don't know how you can give it to Lara! The dude practically ran backwards all night. You can't win a fight running backwards. That's not boxing that's running

Close fight but the right man won it. Lara was more on his bicycle than demonstrating quality ring generalship.

The fight was right there for Lara to take, but those offensive lapses torpedoed his chances with the judges.

Kenny Porter, trainer of IBF welterweight titleholder Shawn Porter
Alvarez, 116-112
I was there and I was caught in the emotion of the event and the crowd. Not the best way to score a fight, but this is how I felt. 8-4 Canelo.
Abel Sanchez, trainer of WBA 160-pound titleholder Gennady Golovkin
Alvarez, 115-113
I thought Lara gave the fight away. He could have out-boxed Canelo easily, but chose to use “that” Cuban style the American public dislikes. Also, Canelo did not appear to have much on his punches, slapped his body shots, but he still won a VERY close one.

pretty much sums it up
I think I had it 7-5 Canelo.
It was close and I could understand someone saying draw or 7-5 Lara.
But man I don't care what all you guys that love "slick" boxers say...Lara was literally running in the ring that night and I'm happy he didn't get the decision. If he never gets another big fight its his own fault.
