JAMES DeGALE plans to become undisputed world super-middleweight this year and then move up a division. The Londoner makes a second defence of his IBF world title against Mexican Rogelio Medina in Washington on Saturday night and says victory will set up a showdown with US-based Swede Badou Jack back home in early September. In order to do that, he'd need to be likeable, which he isn't, and exciting to watch, which he isn't. So I really can't see him becoming a fan favourite, no. Very, very unlikely to happen.
You clearly don't know about the fan he was drawing to channel 5 broadcasts in the uk and the fact, post olympics, he was a pretty big draw and media personality, before Groves derailed him.
He could easily be bigger than that, especially with the right opponents and management. Fighters with less skill and less likability have done more.
DeGale, if handled right, could become a smw great and make tonnes of money/fans.In order to do that, he'd need to be likeable, which he isn't, and exciting to watch, which he isn't. So I really can't see him becoming a fan favourite, no. Very, very unlikely to happen.
DeGale, if handled right, could become a smw great and make tonnes of money/fans. He can unify against whoever the Jack/Bute winner is, then fight the new kid Ramirez or get in a fight with Groves and end his tenure as the best 168 pounder on the planet.
By that time, maybe LHW has sorted itself out and DeGale can fight one of the top 3 guys.
Having said all that, it seems that DeGale has put his career in the hands of Haymon and that may be a very bad move.
Did Chunky forget to mention Beterbiev? Or the other dude who is just pursuing greatness at LHW?
No, he just mentioned the guy who at this present time is the proven best at LHW. Does Beterbiev at this time beat Stevenson, Pascal, Bute or Hopkins? great prospect all the same.
The other guy vs Kov is the fight we all want to see.
He might not know who he is.
I'd say DeGale moving up is some way off. Jack-Bute winner, Ramirez, Groves II all to come.
Zurdo is no joke for DeGale...

I'd pick degale to beat Stevenson. Problem is Stevenson only fights second tier super middleweights or journeyman light heavies. A top notch super middle like degale won't be chosen. I'm not sure Stevenson would even fight Chavez Jr.
James must not have too easy of a time cutting 168. Not exactly a lot of money fights at 175 where 168 he has some big money fights with Groves rematch and Smith and even Golovkin.
