Is there an excuse for not willing to fight someone with a pulse outside of Amir Khan? The King of mandatories has been champion for over a year and half and his three fights stand at: Dan, Gavin and Bizier.
1) Dan is excusable cuz he is again a mandatory, first defense and he was coming off surviving that attack in Tenerife.
2) Gavin was his voluntary defense. So, of all the talent pool at WW available to a World Champion, Frankie Gavin was his voluntary defense.
3) Bizier, so apparently Brook was injured sparring for Chaves so he couldnt fight him in 2015, so the next best thing would be to post pone it instead they outright cancelled it. This is after getting Chaves to pull out of a final eliminator vs Bizier and offer him a direct voluntary shot at Kell's title, Chaves was royally shafted.
The plan was to get the mandatory out of the way and beg Khan for that big payday they have been for last 6 yrs. So, while Bizier was a mandatory they could've went through with Chaves and it wouldn't look so horrendous as this.
Edit: He won the belt against an elite fighter in Shawn Porter, but that was almost 2 yrs ago. Now does that mean he can continue to defend it against the Gavins of the World for years to come, does it still mean he is a true champion cuz the guy he beat was legit?
He beat Porter , that is more than most of the champs have done today ,
"More than most of the champs have done today"??? Foolish statement. Do we need to go through the resumes of the champs? Kell has 1 mentionable opponent on his entire resume and is about to go to slaughter. I do think he is a legit belt holder, but what you just said is nonsense.
Tbf I stand by what I said I still don't think he did enough to beat Porter he held to much and Porter was the only one willing to cause any of the action.
100% paper
Spence is the champion
Spence hasn't even won a belt yet. He may be the best fighter in the division, but he isn't a champ yet, so that kills your reply, cuz.
I wouldn't call that paper, since he legitimately won that belt. What this is, is "kidnapping" the belt. Getting a title and then doing every bllshyt thing possible to hold onto it without fighting the best in your division.
He beat Porter , that is more than most of the champs have done today , so yeah he is the real 147 pound champ. He also beat him more decisively than Thurmon as well.
yes he is a paper title holder he had to constantly clinch and wrestle with the only legitimate opponent he ever fought that doesn't impress me.
Kell brook was on the center stage and he put on a below average performance he barely won that title and you could certainly argue the title should still be with shawn since one he was the real champion he earned it, he was constantly being hugged by kell that and shawn was constantly pushing the fight action throwing more he controlled the ring.
Kell is a hype job.
lmfao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly I troll sometimes to piss people off but most of the time i think level headed & u sir are a level headed poster. Greens will come your way when i get to a pc. U gave a level headed opinion which i think most non nuthuugers think of brook.
I try to be objective, I win nothing from swinging from some boxer's nuts doing a Tarzan's impersonation. Thanks for the words!
The man won his title fare and square in a perfect night for him however, I think the team knows he has some limitations and are keeping him safe.

collazo and gurrero beat dan bizier and gavin
Irrelevant as Brook won his title from Porter, a top 5 welter. In fact Brook is the only non paper champ at 147. The other belt holders won vacant titles.
Now the opposition he defended against have been subpar but that's not what the term paper champ means, it refers to how you got that belt.
He is absolutely a real champion and a good one. He came to the states and beat Porter to get his title. The guys he defended the title against aren't that good but they are better than the subpar fighters Thurman and Garcia have fought recently. Guerrero and Collazo are washed up with no business fighting for world titles at this time. I would favor Brook to beat any active welterweight except Spence. I consider Pacquiao and Mayweather retired until they say they are not retired.

Who did GGG beat for his WBA title again?
Took the Title with a solid win over Porter, followed by 1 voluntary and 2 mandatories, which I don't see a problem with?. He may continue at this level as it is relatively safe and provides a decent purse, but he wouldn't be the only one currently taking that career choice.
There are simply too many belts to make an informed decision, because the ranking system makes lots of fights look good on paper.
Perhaps the sanctioning bodies should rename the belts in each weight as Regular, Ribbed and Flavoured. That way we'd know who was really fvcking us over and at what level.
Anyway, I think Brook can step up if required.

Brooks defences have been very poor. Dan was a mandatory, gavin was inexcusable and bizier was another mandatory, he wasn't allowed to reschedule the chaves fight. In terms of actually gaining the champion, brook is the only real one. Thurman was given a belt and Garcia beat someone who didn't deserve a shot
