Speed is everything in this game, If liston lands clean he takes Haye out, but does he? and IF so, when? Prime haye is so much faster, and very hard to hit!
I got Liston by late KO with haye up on the scorecards
Haye out landed and out punched Valuev and won the fight. He managed to out jab the far bigger guy. That's a schooling. It was a boring fight but that's what schoolings are at times i.e. Floyd v Baldomir.
And yeah, you're right, Liston did have a freakishly long reach for his height but a long reach with a height and speed disadvantage doesn't help much.
I still think Liston would have hit hard enough to win but Hyae is at a level where he himself has a chance.
It wasn't in any way a schooling.
Haye should have beaten him easy but he was very cautious.
It was an awful fight.
Little Liston was a flabby cruiserweight. 6'1" and 201lbs
Haye is 6'3" 220lbs of lean, ripped muscle
Little Liston used to intimidate his opponents who were mostly what would nowadays be super middleweights. However he would be dwarfed by haye and his little chubby body wouldn't intimidate him in the slightest, in fact haye would probably find this little fat fella quite funny
In the ring, the short, immobile little Liston would find Hayes speed like fighting neo from the matrix, and his power to be unreal.
This would be an utter, utter mismatch, with little Liston being given oxygen and stretchered out of the ring no later than the second round.
Post fight, little liston would probably develop severe PTSD from taking such a severe thrashing, and become a recluse, afraid to leave his house.
Ha!
I'm not sure if you're serious or not.
Since when did Haye school Valuev?
Haye wouldn't have possessed a reach advantage over Liston.

Haye was the unified cruiserweight champion and then schooled the largest heavyweight in history and managed to KO many natural heavyweights. He has done more and looked better than the majority of heavyweights since the Holyfield/Tyson/Lewis age.
Can Haye beat Liston? That's a tough one but I'd give him a heck of a chance due to his height, reach and speed advantage. Not to mention he carries some serious firepower himself.
I'd still edge Liston simply because of is superior jab and punch power.

The point went over your head... I mentioned Areola and Chisora as examples of why KOing natural HW's means nothing and shouldn't have been part of your argument. Bringing up an injured, 40something Vitali is not a good way to support an argument either.
Regardless if you think old Haye could pull it off, he still didn't accomplish anything special(which was my point) and I predict he'll have real trouble now that he's bulked up so big. We'll have to wait and see though.
smh, I just remembered your the idiot who drags out arguments. Bye :bottle:
Because there is such a thing as actually watching someone fight. Plus, how many world championships did Chisora or Arreola win? Haye destroyed Chisora who had just gone 12 rounds with Vitali. Your argument just makes Haye look even better.
Fact is, Haye is in far better shape than anyone you mentioned, is faster too and hits harder. No one is saying Haye would definitely win but with a 3 inch height advantage, a weight advantage and a speed advantage, he'd have a heck of a chance against someone like Liston, who at times looked like he was walking through mud.
I'm not even that big a Haye fan, especially following the Wlad fight but credit where credit due.

Haye gets so much credit for potential and what he "could have" done. What the fk has the guy actually accomplished? He had his chance to seize the glory and he turned out to be an egg-laying chicken. Fk him. I'm waiting for him to actually do something beyond this embarrassing "Haye Day" can crushing.
Haye, the only fighter in history that can beat everyone without actually beating anyone.
He can supposedly demolish the entire Heavyweight division but hasn't even beaten one Top 5 fighter there.
One of these guys is "built"
One is not

One of those is muscle stacked on to a small frame, the other is a naturally big guy. Guess which?
Haye gets way more credit in hypothetical match ups than he has ever proven in the ring imo.
Too many watching his highlight reels rather than his actual fights.
I'd pick Liston to win this one, probably by KO. His jab alone would have Haye on the defensive for most of the fight, doing that exaggerated energy wasting version of head movement that he does (which leaves him way off balance and unable to set up his own punches).
Liston wasnt a top tier HW all time, but he was damn good, and a lot better than anyone Haye beat in his career.
Somehow, any actual names are conspicuously omitted...* Could it be because the argument is shyte????
I don't think he's horrible at all, but the type of credit he gets from his fans is laughable, hence the reason I posted.
If KOing natural HWs is a credential to get you in fantasy matchups with legends then, hell, why not run with Areola vs Frasier, Chisora vs Ali.

dude......this guy just compared a guy (liston) who 70% of the time broke his opponents nose with jabs, to david haye?
wait a minute
whoooooohahahaha.
listen to what chuck whepner says when he fought him (his entire face was almost broken) david haye? wtf

flabby? liston was built. this entire post is ridiculous haye hasn't even beaten anyone as good as Cleveland willams. wasn't haye stopped by carl thompson? a smaller fighter then liston? boxing isn't just "size" it's about skill and overall talent related to your respective divisions. fraizer was really small but gave hell to almost any guy at 6'3 and up. thats called talent. liston had a long powerful jab that would break many of his opponents noses. haye wouldn't be able to dance from the outside and troll from that. haye would be too scared to come in on liston (due to listons power) and would end up getting his face broken by jabs. the problem is haye doesn't have the foot movement. thats how you beat liston. foot movement. constantly circling around him. haye stays in one spot and likes to do silly herky jerky head movement. that would get his nose broken standing in front of liston. you gotta be kidding me LOL

A sensible post. Haye wins majority of the early rounds as he boxes around liston using a lightening fast jab, and if he lands flush that hayemaker he troubles liston. Liston gets him out of there eventually but Haye is an underrated H2H fighter

Are you surprised?
The British media here once compared him to Ali (skill wise) because he was shadow boxing underwater.
He is a very good fighter.
Fights i make him underdog in are Fury and Klit
Ortiz, Wilder, Joshua are all 50/50
he knocks Povetkin out

He will beat Joshua
