Dan Rafael just said in his Friday chat that he spoke with Crawford's team, and they will not take the Postol fight, even though Crawford would be guaranteed a 7 figure purse.
Wow. That's crazy, especially since Crawford is still being built and is not a major draw outside of his home city yet, and this PPV would be Top Rank doing him a big favor in the first place.
Hopefully, it is just a negotiating tactic.
Getting $1.21 million for fighting Lundy is not within reason.
Postol getting $90K, and Matthysse getting $500K is not within reason.
I don't know what they saw in this Crawford guy other than beat a blown up Gamboa.
What a huge difference in risk and money. Postol getting $90K for a Matthysse fight while Crawford getting $1.2 million for a Lundy fight is a gross injustice.
Exactly! I'm all for fighters getting their money if it's within reason. Getting the same amount for Postol as Lundy just doesn't make sense.

Whats the rumored guarantee? If its around what he's been getting I can see him not accepting it.

Yup, Fat Dan putting out misinformation as usual. Here's Crawford being interviewed the night after Fat Dan claims Team Crawford turned down the fight.
Clearly this is the fight both teams want. Let them negotiate and it should come together soon.
Who do you think is actually feeding Fatty with those info? Arum...

It seemed odd to me to be honest. Crawford does not seem the type to not want a fight. At most I figure if he did delay, it was just jockeying for some extra money. Now we know he is all in and Carl Moretti replied to him and thanked him for dinner. Now it is postal who needs to sign. It looks like a done fight.
Dude dont wanna be a legend, just wants those soft pay cheques. This shyt hurts, I am a big fan of both shame on Crawford life must be damn comfortable when you can turn down 36 minutes work for $1m.
If Postol instead fights Bradley/PAC winner I'll be excited.
Im all in for July 23rd now the balls in Postol had, lets get it done!!!— Terence Crawford (@budcrawford402) April 9, 2016
It looks like it is Postol who is holding it up now
Oh man, this is not even a Golovkin type opponent Crawford is scared of fighting. This is just Postol.
HBO also wanted Crawford vs Matthysse, not Postol vs Matthysse because, come on, which fight do you think could have been a much better box office draw?
Look at who he fought, Dierry effing Jean.
He obviously ducked Matthysse too. Crawford vs Matthysse would have been the more interesting fight. Unfortunately, it's never going to happen.
Crawford would have been the guy who retired Mathysse, and his resume would have improved.
i dont think it has anything to do with all bark no bite its just fighters want fair value in big fights. its easy for fans to say bs but its true. i wouldnt be surprised if broner made more on spike tv then crawford was offered to fight postol
Getting a 7 figure payday to fight Postol is more than fair. Postol isn't some superstar, he's just a good fighter. Crawford hasn't beaten anyone in the top 15 and this is an opportunity to change that, yet he's behaving like some spoilt girl.
The hype has got to this guy's head, he has done absolutely nothing in the sport and isn't showing any eagerness to prove himself.
You don't see Postol demanding more money and he's probably making less than half of what Crawford is.
This generation is nothing but divas smdh
It seems like it went from just one or two fighters who were truly at the top of their game, to everyone from top contenders, newly crowned champs, managers, promoters, and coaches.
Maybe it was always this way, we just weren't privy to the information. Either way, I don't like it and I don't see it getting better anytime soon.
Shame on Crawford if this is true. Let's be honest he's not a big name or big draw. And he hasn't beaten NOBODY at 140. And he's turning down career high 7 figure paydays? If guys like this who barely sell in their hometown of Nebraska are pricing themselves out of fighting the best guys in their weight this is a big problem for boxing.
no its a big problem for bob arum and other promoters cause there going to have to actually pony up and the transition might be dirty but i dont think its going to be bad for boxing for boxers to want their market value thats just ridiculous
lmfaooo not the slightest bit surprised, this guy is all bark and no bite. No doubt they'll bring another chinny midget up in weight to fight him next. That will further cement his status as the top guy at 140 and a P4P fighter.

damn, I enjoy watching Crawford and believe he can be special, but this is looking like a duck. 7 figures and still no? seems like he does't want that smoke from pistol at all.
hopefully this is just posturing/negotiating through the media for that matchup
Well he got $1 million dollar for mismatch with Lundy so what did you expect will happen when its time to make a champion vs champion fight?
HBO & PBC go on keep overpaying for mismatches
that is 2 cases of the much "superior" black fighters cowering in a corner against inferior white fighters. GGG has the same problem
