Is Broner the weakest multiple division 'champion' ever?

Joey Gamache was probably it. He was given a shot at the vacant WBA super featherweight title against an unknown fighter and then fought for the vacant WBA lightweight against another unknown fighter. In his only defense he was knocked out by Tony Lopez.

Broner beat DeMarco the #1 LW at the time. Santa Cruz has never been the man or beaten the man in any division he's ever been in. DeMarco was #1 so Broner was a legit champ at lightweight. But at the same time, the fact that DeMarco was #1 says a lot about the quality of the division at the time.

I can't think of a worse fighter to have held titles in multiple weight classes. Can't think of a fighter who acquired the titles in a less impressive fashion either. Two of his titles were vacant, the other two were won against DeMarco and Malignaggi (wasn't even in the top 10 at welterweight). Hasn't had one notable defence of any title that I can think of, and has lost two of his titles on the scales. Broner seems like the showcase for all the worst excesses of the sport nowadays - paper titles, cherry-picking, and hype. No, the worst or weakest multiple division champ is probably Robert Guerrero...or at least on par with Broner But that last point is spot on. Broner is the epitome of modern boxing and looking at how TC, Mikey, Thurman and so on are being guided, I'm worried they will go down the same path.

are you saying DeMarco was the man at 135 laughs the 2 guys to beat at the time was Miguel Vazquez and Richar Abril and he didn't fight any of them DeMarco was seen as a garbage fighter how was demarco #1 though? he had only beaten one top 10 ranked fighter during his run and that guy was ranked #9, ricky burns beat 3 ranked higher than #9. vasquez had 5 title defenses at that time, abril had beaten acosta(former #1) and rios(robbery) who was #1 at the time. have to say that was a poor and inaccurate ranking. think it was based on beating linares who wasn't even ranked at 135 at that time and was moving up. I'm so glad no one mention Cotto. Broner might be it if TS means 3 weigh classes or more but if its just more than a single weight class then hands down its Girly Malignaggi. How the hell did this transsexual be a champ in one weight class I can't even comprehend let alone two weight classes..

What about Ricky Burns? If he wins against Di Rocco next month he will be a 3 weight world champ.

Guerrero is only a 2 division champ. The other 2 were interim, not real belts I know that but going by that you can easily say Broner isn't a real 4 division champ because the 140 belt was regular, 130 was vacant etc.

He is not on the upswing getting better. Yes he is and by a mile. When you hear 4 division champ you think wow that's a great resume. Then you look deeper and see he was a paper champ at all 4 weights, won mostly vacant titles, never beat the man at any of those weights, never had a long string of title defenses at any weight, and lost multiple belts the night before title fights because he missed weight. His entire 4 division champ status was completely manufactored. With vacant title shots like at 140 which he got directly AFTER getting beat by Porter and having no significant wins against top guys at 140. And the guy he got to fight for that paper belt was also coming off a loss and 2 years of inactivity. That's nothing but shady politics. If you take away the 4 division paper champ garbage and just look at the names and fighters he's beat it's not impressive at all. And when he's stepped up against better fighters he lost. 2 losses and a fight that could of gone either way against Paulie and Paulie is not that good even in his prime which he wasn't when he faced Paulie who already was destroyed by khan, Hatton, cotto and got killed a year later by Porter and then Danny. And that's really broners best win.
