DAVID HAYE has pledged to give Nicky Blackwell around 50,000 to help the stricken boxer when he leaves hospital. The former world heavyweight champion will donate 10 per cent of ticket sales for his second comeback fight against Arnold Gjergjaj on May 21 at London's O2 Arena. Click Here To Read More]
You could be right but I'm not so sure...Haye had a hard time landing a lot on Valuev and he is even slower than Briggs. That being said the triangle theory doesn't mean ****, perhaps it was just Valuev's height that was causing Haye issues.Valuev is 7 feet tall & 320lbs. I don't think you can ever prepare for that. It was really quite shocking that Holyfield should have got the win. Valuev was slow as a turtle but his size was a huge factor & he wasn't easy to hit. He puts up a guard with his elbows down & there isn't much of a target. Valuev never fought any of the big contenders. It would have been interesting to see him fight Fury, Wilder, Helenius or the Klitschkos. Fighters who were 6'5 or taller. Even then a guy gives up 6-7 inches... Ustinov is similar in size. Ustinov vs Valuev would of been interesting...I think Haye would destroy Briggs. He wouldn't see anything coming & this version of Haye is a solid 230lbs not the blown up cruiserweight at 210...
It's all an act!! This fight has already been arranged. Haye & his backers pay for Briggs to come over to England and act the fool, looking for Haye, calling him out etc. Haye pretends to not be interested, knocks out that bum and then agrees to fight Briggs because the public are 'demanding' it. The British casuals will lap it all up. Haye vs Briggs, sky sports PPV at the end of the year, guaranteed.

Damn that does make sense :lol1:
What a joke i dont care about this bull****-organisations Briggs should be ranked at 30 or even lower. Boxrec has him at 46.
Only thing Briggs did was beating some out of shape yourneymen since loosing to Klitschko. But still i should not call any fighter a bum thats right. I do apologize for that and hope i can still continue to live.
He is only ranked in the WBA top 10 because he holds the NABA regional trinket & he was pretty active for awhile even if it was against weak opponents. The NABA belt gets the holder a top 15 ranking. He dropped from 4 to 7 because his activity level dropped off. He needs to fight again soon. If he doesn't defend that NABA title soon he will drop out of the top 10 & get stripped of that title. If he can't land Haye soon I expect him to fight a journeyman from North America or try & pick up another vacant regional belt so he can keep a decent ranking. Briggs has not won a fight against a C level fighter since Liakhovich. 10 years since he beat a good journeyman. Liakhovich was a B level guy back then but his best win since 2006 is Rob Calloway or Raphael Zumbano Love. That says it all & it is beyond me how he got the fight with Vitali Klitschko. Where would Briggs be if he didn't get that gift in the Foreman fight? That turned into 3 title shots...
Eventually someone is gonna actually let Briggs get a fight whether he actually deserves it or not. Eventually someone is gonna get tired of having all their public appearances crashed by Briggs screaming "Let's Go Champ" nonstop.
Briggs has a rock hard chin and a champion's heart, so he'll just keep coming forward through the blows.
I'm not sure I wanna see what his face would look like after taking 300+ shots from David Haye over 12 rounds.
Shannon Briggs makes me think of Ken Shamrock every time I see him.
Looks absolutely ridiculous - big yet lean and vascular, really good aesthetically despite being 100 years old.
Then I realize he's old, he can't move, and all the abs in the world won't stop you from folding like a cheap chinese car when you get hit.
David Haye will turn Briggs' face into a fine slurry, a bowl of paste.

You shouldn't joke about the British casuals, they will literally swallow anything you put in their mouths. The mentality of soccer fans is not to be trifled with, I hope you've never sang ten German bombers at a German boxing event featuring a Brit Denium, I will hold you in a lower esteem if you have.
What's with the Bellew avatar, you're not a big fan are you ?
This is gonna be a nasty fight.
The speed difference between these two is pretty big. I don't think Briggs will even see the punches coming. I'm telling you, it's gonna be brutal.
Briggs dropped from the WBA # 4 to #7 but he is still ahead of Haye. So Haye would be fighting a guy ranked higher than him in the WBA.

It was a nice gesture, but let's not pretend that Haye really gives a sh1t, it's a PR exercise for him.
Haye is currently rebranding himself as the good guy of British boxing, presumably to combat Tyson Fury who markets himself as the villian, and to emulate the Anthony Joshua "humble bro" model.
Haye cares about his check, he doesn't give a crap about boxing or its participants.
This is what Haye really thinks of his fellow fighters.
Well it worked for George Foreman
I'd be Haye, I d take Briggs as another tuneup fight(so he can stfu)... if he actually get a license to fight... i think he needs a good "last" beating to understands that enough is enough buddy......I know, he doesnt know yet, and everybody knows, with Haye, he wont last 2 rounds.
That's your opinion, that he's doing it as a PR move. Fact is, he's donating 10% of ticket sales to an injured fighter. It has to be commended.
As for Singleton, it's not Haye's fault his opponent pulled out 2 days before the fight. Haye (or more specifically Haye's team; Haye would have had very little to do with it) couldn't provide a stand-in at such short notice and the fight was scrapped. Let's face it, the vast, vast majority of punters had paid to see the main event so it's not like it was a great loss. Singleton's a bum anyway. Guy hasn't got one meaningful win on his resume and lost against the one half-decent fighter (Eggington) he squared off with.
Not every fighter is destined to make it to the top. Shane is an honest pro trying to make a living from the sport. Haye or Haye's team should have compensated him or at least got him another opponent, just not refuse to answer the phone.
Like i say, it's a nice gesture but if he was really concerned, he would've donated a bigger % or stayed anonymous. Adam Etches has started a JustGiving account for Blackwell, Haye could've just donated a few quid via that. It's PR and anyone who thinks otherwise is a mug.
So hes propably fighting Briggs after Gjergjaj instead of a serious opponent....the bum-tour continues.

Haye/Briggs could be a WBA eliminator because everyone else who is ranked higher is busy or in the WBA tourney.

C'mon... he's barely into a comeback after 4 years absent. And I wouldn't call Briggs a "bum" exactly. For some reason I wanna see this fight. Mainly so I can see the press tour lol

i mean he spent the first era of his career being a ****y douche and it backfired big time when he basically fought to survive in the Klitschko fight. I'd rather see him being humble than signing a check his ass can't cash, like he used to do.
Lets go champ.
But its classy of Haye to donate $ to Blackwell. Its very unlikely that Nick will be cleared to fight again.
