FORMER WBA super-middleweight title contender George Groves has revealed he'd 'love a crack' at UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor, if he made the transition into mixed martial arts. Click Here To Read More]
What if the MMA guy has no wrestling? What if the boxer is a BJJ black belt?
This combat sports world we know right now is being expanded & changed constantly. I suspect in another decade there will be many high level fighters who compete in the ring & the cage at the same time. That hasn't really happened yet. Either we got MMA guys who get in some low level boxing matches while they are in the minor MMA leagues or we got past their prime boxers going into the octagon for a payday. Might sound crazy to some of you guys critical of MMA or boxing today, but I think its the obvious progression that will be made moving forward. I think these top two combat sports will become more intertwined.Very few mma fighters that dont know how to wrestle these days. They learn somewhat of a ground game, a wrestler wins 9 out of 10.
McGregor already fought a 175 guys and lost, Why Groves not calling out Welterweight or Middleweight champions??
No, he fought a 155lb'er who did not have a camp.
Both guys weighed the same..... 165'ish.
McGregor totally misjudged how (in)effective he would be at a higher weight.
Which is inexplicable, considering the fact that there is 100+ years of history on the subject.
And I think that 170 is welterweight in MMA? but not 100% sure about that.
Isn't 145 featherweight, and 155 lightweight ?
Not sure about that actually, you could be right.
McGregor should return to 145, defend against Aldo, and then that other guy Frankie-something, they are supposed to be the best at that weight..... and then move to 155 and fight a couple lower-level guys before getting in with that guy RDA..... he is fkn wicked, I would like to see if McGregor can beat him.
170 is too much for McGregor imho.
McGregor is world-class, and MMA is his game.
Groves is NOT world-class, and MMA is not his game.
I would take that bet anytime you like.
Give McGregor time to adapt to the weight, I wouldn't give Groves a chance.
BJJ is all about technique, brown belts choke out guys much larger than them all the time.
Nate Diaz would kill Groves.
Man, you are a fucking idiot.
My how things have changed. It used to be UFC fighters wanting to challenge Floyd and now its the reverse, boxers now want to challenge McGregor lol. These ignorant boxing fans don't realize how much Floyd did for the sport. He brought eyes to the sport that wouldn't be watching otherwise. But now McGregor is doing for the UFC what Floyd did for boxing. He's bringing new people in and now everybody wants a shot at him.
Ridiculous groves is twice the little man's size.
Diaz is half inch shorter than groves & they both fought 168-172 lbs range.... so what is the problem?
No world class boxer anywhere near his prime has ever fought in the UFC, so how it would work out is pure conjecture.
I would pick Groves to flatten McGreggor though, if it ever happened.
He would be too big, too fit, and hits way too hard for Connor, imo.

Why is Groves picking on the munchkin?? Did Mcgregor say something? Ordinarily the boxer would get ****ed up Art Jimmerson style in mma... But since Groves knows kickboxing and jits, he might just beat the smaller guy

I like that more boxers are talking MMA/UFC & seem curious about competing in it. I think at some point there is gonna be a superfight between a top level active boxer & a top level active MMA guy in the ring or octagon.Wrestling will always trump boxing.
McGregor is a brown belt, he would choke your ass out.
