Floyd is often even willing to put himself in positions that wouldn't favour him against an in-fighter of JCC's caliber.....
We know that he isn't going to bring a tremendous amount of volume to the table either to give Chavez pause in the same manner as others as he works his way forward.:boxing:
I always felt Floyd wins this comfortably because Chavez would start off too slow and I don't think he would be able to break Floyd down in 12 rounds. Duran would give Floyd a much tougher fight imo.
Both great fighters. Chavez's mentee Castillo gave Floyd his first close fight. But then Floyd beat him handily the second time out. Whitaker, Taylor and Randall all gave Chavez fits and they are in the mold on Money May. I say Floyd 116-112
IMO typical 8-4 type fight.....Chavez best shot was at 140....at 130 Chavez could have losses to Juan Laporte or Rocky Lockridge and wasnt at his best. Would get thoroughly outboxed.
Anybody that watched Jose Luis Castillo beat Floyd knows that Chavez Sr would have done the same, tenfold.
you do realize the only chavez and castillo fight nothing alike?
Castillo did better than Chavez did against good or elite boxers. Castillo is taller, longer reach, was a welterweight on fight night and fights better on the outside than Chavez. Chavez was a pressure fighter with underrated defense. Castillo was an underrated boxer puncher with elite inside game...two totally different styles. Chavez had a better right hand than Castillo had a better jab and fought a lot dirtier than Chavez who was a clean fighter and fought more inside, whereas Castillo was great at mid range.
Why do people bring up Manny's fake injury on May 2nd when they talk about his fight with Mayweather but never bring up Mayweathers injury in fight one with Castillo...Manny didnt show any signs of pain or get a rub down...mayweather complained in the corner, switched to southpaw and was visibly bothered. In the rematch when he was injury free...it was scored closer but anyone that saw it knows it wasnt as close as the scores suggest
people just werent use to seeing him in a close fight. It was his first and last fight he had that could have went either way and he had injuries.
If we are gonna do a fantasy fight, both guys should be at their best.
Messicans aint got no skeelz, dey to flate footed, & dey can neva beat no1 dats slick. Sweet pea made Chavez look likea foo darefore da whole black race is able to beat any and all Messicans.

Roger gave him problems too, the second time.
It's clear both have tools that could trouble one another, two great fighters.
It would depend on who could execute their game plan the most efficiently.

its funny considering Floyd beat fighters that Chavez couldnt or wouldnt beat...Canelo, ODLH, Mosley and Pacquaio
He was a great fighter but was overrated in his era.
Floyd would probably win a 116-112 affair, the fleet footed Floyd from corrales would be able to keep him at bay, but if Chavez got in close it would be a drawn out affair similar to castillo 1, with chavez being able to bully floyd against the ropes in spots.
Floyd would have made him look amateur.
Apart from a few decent wins, Chavez feasted on factory workers for a living. People praise him for the same thing Leo Santa Cruz does now.
He wouldn't have landed a glove on Floyd.

Depends on what Floyd you are talking about. He is certainly capable of beating SR on his best day. But if you are talking about an older Floyd vs. a younger Sr. then there's your problem.
