Cotto vs. Kirkland rumored for HBO PPV

I don't think Crawford-Postol breaks 100K. Ward-Kovalev will be fortunate to hit 200K. Crawford should be able to carry over good numbers after successive solid performances against top quality opposition, I'd pay to see him. Kovalev should be trying the Russian online ppv market as Ryabinsky has begun to tap for his world of boxing stable.

Being a big fan of PPV buys and TV ratings, I'm really interested in seeing how 2016 goes for HBO. If Golovkin-Lemieux couldn't break 100K PPV buys, I'm really interested in seeing how Cotto-Kirkland, Crawford-Postol, and Ward-Kovalev does. I think Crawford will do well 210-230k buys, and I'd like to think Ward and Krusher will do as well if not better also. Crawford and Ward are the future p4p kings.

How can they put this on ppv when canelo vs kirkland was on regular hbo?

I really don't mind this fight being on PPV, because I can simply choose not pay for it. I think that's a better option than putting it on HBO, cutting into the budget for Cotto (who isn't cheap) against Kirkland (who has been very inactive) to buy a fight with two guys coming off a loss. I would not want that fight on World Championship Boxing.

I got nothing but love for Kirkland, and will be pulling for him in this fight. Even though he has a snowballs chance in hell of winning. Anyways, not real sure why people are upset with Cotto here. He is coming off an L and this may be his last fight. Did anyone really think he was going to give one of these young kids a shot? Especially considering he would catch a a severe beating from J-Rock, Andrade or the one Charlo twin. Hell he is'nt beating anyone worth mentioning at 154 or 160 at this point in his career imo.

What a waste of time. Cotto should give one of the young 154' lb'ers a shot. Andrade would be good. But I suppose he wants a guaranteed win so he's "rejuvenated".

Well it's not that easy considering ROC nation doesn't have a working relationship with AL Haymon. That precludes them from any of the top options or networks. He's in a bit of a tough spot tbh. And HBO isn't making it aby easier. I mean this is Miguel Cotto. He pulls better ratings than anyone on the network but perhaps Canelo. But I guess his purse demands are too far outside of the budget. This isn't about HBO this is about Roc Nation's inexperience/incompetence. They have NO Contract with HBO they can go to Showtime or any other network. Or if he's hell bent on staying with HBO he can sign a contract with HBO like Ward did where he guaranteed he would fight Kovalev and now HBO has green lit his showcase fight. Cotto had to agree to fight Canelo last year before HBO green lit his showcase fight. If they don't want to pay for his rebound fight against lower level fighters then go elsewhere. That's Roc Nation's job. Cotto should bounce from Roc Nation after his next fight (reports say he only owes them 1 fight left on his deal) and work with a real promoter. Roc Nation overpaid giving a ridiculous contract to steal him away. And great for Cotto he got paid big time but these fools are struggling and he is basically promoting himself at this point. Canelo vs Cotto the framework of that deal was already created by Golden Boy and Top Rank. Only thing Roc Nation contributed to that PPV was 1 crappy undercard fight and a stupid mini concert that fans who bought the PPV bashed and complained about. And they can't get him any fighters or TV dates.

And if the fight has to be PPV then find a better opponent so the PPV has a chance to do well. Roc Nation is doing him no service this PPV will bomb.
