I was curious to see where Mexican and Mexican-American fighters hailed from so I compiled the lists below.
Most of these fighters won some sort of belt or were well known. If a boxer was born in the United States but I know where their family is originally from, I listed them on both states lists.
If curious to know where each state in Mexico is found, I added a map below.

Didn't know that Oscar de la hoya is from Durango.
Well, he was born here, but his father and grandfather Vicente de la Hoya hail from Durango. I remember when Oscar was going to fight Rafael Ruelas, he brought this up. Rafael was from a Jalisco and there's a famous saying that says, "Los de Jalisco nunca se rajan" or "Jalisco people never back down, never give up" - Oscar said, "If Jalisco never backs down, well, my family is from Durango and we're scorpions." - Durango is famous for scorpions.
Then this article talks about his father and grandfather in Durango.
http://espn.go.com/espn/magazine/archives/news/story?page=magazine-19980921-article32
Because Father won't help him, not really, not the way he wants him to. Father has too much Mexico in him, too much Durango.
Men? Here's what you need to know about men. His name was Vicente De La Hoya, and he was a fighter too-a gunfighter. He ruled the central Mexican town of Villa Ignacio Ramirez (pop. 12,000) in Durango, ruled it on horseback and with pistols. The villagers would solemnly approach him and kneel to kiss his hand, and so would all nine of his children. The oldest, Joel, was pointed in the direction of the bean fields at the age of 6 and told to earn a living. Joel was also in charge of policing the other children, and if Joel told Papa that his brothers were bad, Papa would have them chained to a tree.
Vicente was boss man of the village, but there was a rival family to deal with. "My father was very tough, like Al Capone," Joel De La Hoya says. "He had big respect. It is the way he talked-with guns and fists. He was a short man, but he was very macho, muy hombre.
Her name was Cecilia, and she was a singer, and she insisted they go to church for their first date. After a courtship, they were married, and he asked her to give up singing to raise their children, because that was the macho thing to ask, the Durango thing to ask. She acquiesced, and they had two sons right off the bat: Joel Jr. and Oscar.
See, he never felt secure in East L.A. Not since he first heard about death. There had been a knock on the door one night, something to do with Oscar's grandmother. She had been 63, left behind in Durango by Vicente De La Hoya, left behind to deal with the grudges. The enemy family had killed her at a party, and Oscar's father turned beet red, and he flew to Mexico right away.
Oscar knows his dad cries at soap operas and talks baby talk to children. But he also knows about the Durango in him.
Impressive! I like to include hall of famer Chalky Wright among Mexican fighters as he was born in the state of Durango.
