Former WBC interim world champion Lucas Matthysse posted on social media that he feels “tired” or unmotivated and questions his desire to continue boxing.
Matthysse is supposed to be preparing for his next fight on May 7 in the U.S. against an opponent to be determined.

Please don't be true :( thanks for all the great fights and wars you've given us over the years win, lose or draw.
Damn this sucks.... three of my favorite fighters are gone (maidana, matthysse and martinez) not to mention no mayweather (not my favorite) but he brings hype and excitement
Damn! Postol ruined him :lol1: He never had the heart to dig deep when needed. Relied to much on punching power and when an opponent didn't fold he had no plan B. Then Reynoso rejected him so he had to go back to his trainers teaching him the same thing that's made him a gatekeeper. Not surprised he's retiring.
Pretty sure he dug deep against Molina and Provodnikov and Garcia with one eye, he's made his money and that's why he unfortunately pretty willingly gave up against Postol. He got frustrated, the mental aspect of boxong was never his strength and having such a ****e corner his whole career didn't help. Loyalty was his downfall in all honesty.
Can anyone post his actual message?
I don't have facebook, twitter or whatever social media he used and I can't see it on the main link posted :beerchug:
Argentines all leaving the sport. W/o Martinez, Maidana, and Matthysee, who's left? I thought there was one other good name but can't recall.
Omar Narvaez is another good Argentine who may be leaving soon. Diego Chaves was decent but I havent heard about him since Brook pulled out of their fight. Matthysse, Maidana and Martinez definitely represented their country well and their absence will be felt in the sport. I hope Matthysse decides to continue on but if his heart is no longer 100% in it its best to leave now.
Repost from me from last night, Lucas Matthysse hints at retirement on his Facebook.— Ben Jacobs (@Ben2012_London) March 5, 2016
With his style of fighting, it's a good time for him to walk away if he's not getting any major money fights.
