I am a 90's kid and there were a LOT of quality actioned packed heavyweight fights to look forward too back then. The lower weight divisions are okay, but they pale in comparison to when two quality giants slug it out.

The 90s are overrated. Sure there were some exciting fights but a lot of them were two guys clinching over and over while being tired by the 6th round.
In the coming year it will become one of the best divisions, are you dim? or you don't see all the upcoming talent?
just because wilder is a chicken legged bum and fury a big fat feather fisted oaf doesn't mean there isnt a ton of talent there.
:Flush:
I don't think it is dull. It has become very interesting lately. Maybe there aren't as many quality heavyweights as in the 90s but that doesn't mean it's dull.

I have to agree with that because heavyweight is always THE glamour division, if it does well, boxing does well.
However, I feel you're missing the point, the division is actually better now than it was 5 years ago. Fury is the new champion and even those his performance wasn't exactly eye-catching, he has managed to freshen up the scene.
Wilder is looking to move forward with his career and a Povetkin fight is on the horizon and AJ is about to become a leading contender. Not to mention the likes of Pulev and Chisora on their way back, Hughie coming up and Parker looking decent. Heck, who know, Ortiz may be a genuine killer in the division.
But...there aren't likely to be action packed fights as the bigger guys like fighting behind a lazy jab, clinch style popularised by Steward's version of Lewis and the smaller guys don't have the engine, the athleticism or the power to do anything about it.
We won't be seeing the likes of Tyson/Holy 1, Tyson/Ruddock, Bruno/Tyson and so on for quite some time.
You've managed to pick the first time in years that the HW division is interesting to make this thread?
Quality isnt that high, but weve got big punchers, big personalities, 50/50 fights, a charismatic, vulnerable champion, good prospects, mainstream media coverage etc etc
