Pretty sad that one of the exciting and most competitive fight in boxing is getting very little attention despite 2 of the top dogs at 147 in their prime are fighting just couple weeks away, while stupid news about Mayweather-Pac and all that homosexual bs is getting the attention .
I think that this fight is a treat for boxing fans and picking Thurman to win a close decision
Ps: Why there is no masterthread and official poll for this fight??
Thurman is going to clown Porter so easily. :lol1:
Can't believe it took them this long to make this mediocre fight being masqueraded as a mega fight.
How can you call it a mega fight when there is no hype at all?
Almost 50/50 fight in my opinion. Could go either way.
Yeah. Unfortunately that's Porter fights in a nutshell. Thurman hasn't clinched a lot in previous fights but he will almost have to.
I don't think he knows how to lol literally. Vs ghost he easily could have when back up or when he was hurt vs collazo
Porter is a mauler and he is pretty effective at it, but if someone can stand up to him and not be over powered he is kind of stuck.
I actually think the fight will be kind of ugly because of this, which is why i am not as hyped as others (but I always like to downplay my expectations for a fight so it can easily exceed then rather than be disappointed). Porter is going to try to mug Thurman because that is what he does and Thurman will catch him on the way in then have to grapple to keep Porter from mugging him. As long as Thurman stands his ground and lands his shots on Porter when he comes in he should be good.
If he lands enough to deter him it is curtains for Porter

Julio Diaz was able to back Porter up and he was totally ineffective. That's definitely something Thurman needs to do.
Porter has fast feet, good head movement and does a good job of getting under punches so it won't be that easy keeping him off of you. But if you can back him up, time him on the way in or even get off first and tie up, it negate everything he wants to do.

Porter didn't really look great against Broner he mainly won because Broner was so focused on spoiling that he didn't land any meaningful punches (until round 12).
Thurman is more offensive minded than Broner, so I am pretty sure he will not forget to get his shots in. Porter is so wild and sloppy it can work against a sound guy if he can force them back, but I don't think he can out muscle Thurman and it will be Porter falling back because he will be the one eating clean shots before they start greco-roman wrestling.

There hasn't been much trash talking and neither of them have kind of crazy rabid fanbase that makes for 60 page threads on here. The hype will probably (hopefully) increase closer to the time.
This......
It's a PBC fight, on the Friday ShoBox they called it "Showtime Championship Boxing on CBS presented by Premier Boxing Champions".
I know I saw that but I really didn't have a picture of it and didn't want to search it out, so I didn't want to bring up something I didn't feel like proving if called which I assume I will.

I think Thurman's power will be a problem for Porter.
Thurman is without question the better boxer and the more skilled of the two. I see Thurman catching him coming in and hurting him.
And he has a better sense of distance. Porter has decent power but he smothers himself 90% of the time.
Yeah that's my concern. Thurman lacks a jab to keep Porter off of him. But Brook was also effective timing him with the left hook and lead right on his way in. And he used lateral movement to make Porter have to reset.
Maligbaggi, Alexander and Broner have the bad habit of backing up in a straight line which plays right into Porter's attack.

The fight is in March and is between two challengers, one who maneged to hold a title and the other who is the definition of paper champ. This requires about a week of hype in all honesty lol
Having said that, it should be a good style clash, as Porter come to fight and Thurman will try to stay on the outside and box behind a jab. I'm looking forward to it but it's not one to be hyped about.
Im hyped but I mean blame PBC... where the the TV specials? Where are the build up short docs? Where is the promo? I mean, I know Haymon is broke but come on. This fight is worth the media exposure and coverage.
This fight is Showtime on CBS, not PBC.
