(An unorthodox "15-day firm commitment" contract but now signed by Golovkin's team, by Golden Boy, and signed by WBC too)

The winner of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez v Amir Khan is mandated to face Gennady Golovkin and the contracts are signed, says Golovkin's promoter Tom Loeffler.
WBA 'Super', IBF and WBC 'interim' world middleweight champion Golovkin (34-0-KO31) defends his IBF strap against mandatory challenger Dominic Wade in California on April 23, while Britain's Khan (31-3-KO19) takes on WBC champion Alvarez (46-1-1-KO32) two weeks later in Las Vegas.
Loeffler revealed that a deal is already in place for the heavy-hitting Kazakh to try to add another belt to his collection but also opened the door to a fight with current WBA holder, Daniel Jacobs (31-1-KO28).
Of the contracts, Loeffler told fight****.com: "It's not a verbal. Everything is in writing, signed by our side, by the Golden Boy side and the WBC. We have a good relationship with Golden Boy and a lot of respect for Canelo. It was part of allowing the voluntary defence they requested.
"Everything is mandated. The winner of Canelo v Khan has 15 days to commit to fighting Gennady or not. If they commit then we'll start negotiating to put that fight together.
"It's so hard to get an opponent in the ring with Gennady. If I stopped working with certain people, it'd be even less.
"Danny Jacobs had a tremendous win over Peter Quillin with a first round knockout. Gennady sold out Madison Square Garden and Jacobs is from New York. That's just one off the top of my head that would be a great match-up.
"Naturally, the focus is on Canelo. If everything goes the right way with the fight with Wade, or unifying with Billy Joe Saunders. If one of those fights can't get made, the Jacobs fight is a huge fight for the middleweight division."
Alvarez won the vacant WBC crown when he comfortably outpointed Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto in November 2015 and will be making his maiden defence against former super-lightweight champion Khan.
Golovkin is enthusiastic over the prospect of adding more titles to his collection and told behindthegloves.com: "I want a unification fight. It doesn't matter with who, I'm ready. I feel great.
"Absolutely, I'm ready. Right now my focus is on Dominic Wade, because he's the IBF mandatory challenger. I respect the mandatory challenger.
"Right now I'm to Canelo, the mandatory challenger. I think he's very correct like me. I think it's good for both, for business, for Canelo, for Khan. For money, why not?"
Good news, finally the MW division can be unified. Gotta say I hope Canelo pulls through because I have no interest in seeing GGG vs Khan.
Why not? If khan manages to beat GGG and become lineal middleweight champion, after being a damn big underdog and being ridiculed by idiots on forums such as this, it would be one of the greatest upset wins of all time. Why would you then not like to see Khan, who by now would have shown his credentials at the higher weight versus GGG?
lol if Khan were to somehow by masterpiece I could see him getting even crazier and going through with the GGG fight. I guess he's like f*ck it, I've got glass - guys at 135-140 have iced me so why not just go for big names and get iced by them just the same.
so if Canelo-Khan truly turns out to be his DLH-Pac, then that means if we go chronologically....the next one, Khan-GGG, will be his Pac-Hatton. my god, GGG might go out cold
I see. So you're saying..
Floyd won a 152 title against Canelo..
Pacquaio won a 145 title against Cotto.
Cotto won a 153 title against Margarito.
Armstrong won a 142 title against Ross in... do you remember what year that was? 1938..
Catchweights have been around forever, get over it already.
All I'm asking is, is Khan gonna defend the belt at 160 IF he wins, or will he take a page from Canelo's lousy book?
Since you seem to be so intimate with Khan, I thought you would know. That's all.
AGAIN, the same bullsheet, 15 days to agree or not to fight Gennady. And the WBC wont give a ****, they dont enforce their rules, they break them and remake them.
Look **** that cocaine addict drag Oscar and that vampire son of a whore coward Nahul Chanel'o Wackvarez. I hope Khan loads those gloves and damages Canelo badly. I will laugh at his misery.
WAR GOLOVKIN!!! :headbang:
Please. No one is going to force Canelo to fight anyone unless it's on his terms. The WBC knows it and GGG knows it. The fight happens at 155 or hopefully GGG can sell out the tiny theatre next to MSG to unify.
Dunno why you're so invested in this pitiful 155 demand. You know that's just a duck attempt, right? But it looks like Ggg has no issues selling out bigger venues.

It's fine, huge credit to Khan if he somehow wins, but he will have beaten "Body not ready" CW MW champ

IF he wins, he's wins a 155 title. Did he say he would defend it at the full limit of 160? Ask him that the next time you meet him.

The point is, Khan has shown real interest in fighting GGG by tweeting out this story. Not many others want to fight him. Can't hate on the guy for wanting to fight the perceived best fighters in the sport.

Khan, with his chin, has 1 in 10 million chance to win.
The Canelo fight will NOT happen either this year or next year. Maybe 2017-18, as Canelo said today (in one or two years time). Unless the boogeyman accepts the 155.
I don't agree with catchweights, but Canelo is a *****.

The difference is that it's now a written contract, it's "not verbal" as Loeffler pointed out in the article. The Cotto-Canelo situation was just a verbal understanding, which are always sketchy.
True that the catchweight issue is yet to be resolved. It'll be the key hurdle to overcome in the final negotiations. GGG will probably have to budge on the catchweight I guess.
Khan tweeted out this story himself a few hours ago so he's definitely interested in the GGG fight if he can overcome Canelo first.

Why is anyone excited? Same thing as before, 15 days to decide if they wanna fight and a month after that to finalize the terms. No mention of weight, and Canelo is still firm on the 155. Nothing new. This **** is getting boring.

Didn't Canelo also say TODAY that the fight is possible in one or two years? Nothing new. This **** is getting boring.
Bad wording in the title. It's agreed that they have 15 days to decide lol
They have 15 days after the fight to start negotiating terms of the final fight contract with GGG. So this could be considered the preliminary fight contract.
If they don't commit to the GGG fight then they probably have to vacate the belt because the WBC are on board with this contract.
At this stage, there's no legal way to get any better than that. They can't finalize the GGG contract now because the winner hasn't been determined so it's as close as we're going to get at the moment.
