Canelo has gained experience since the Floyd fight, he's an improved fighter. Better defence, punch selection, conditioning and power because at 155 he's fighting at his optimum weight.
When Floyd fought him at the 152 catchweight, he was slightly weight-drained, slower, sluggish, less well-rounded and maybe even starstruck being in the ring with Floyd, plus he was green and inexperienced. These factors contributed towards it seemingly being one Floyd's greatest performances as he seemed to deal with Canelo easier than many had originally suspected.
But how does a rematch play out Mayweather vs Prime Canelo at 155?
Personally I think Floyd may well still beat him, but it's a much closer fight and Canelo might come out victorious with a close but controversial scorecard win as he did against Lara.
The only way Floyd could salvage his legacy would be to beat nelo at 154. Most think he roided up for pac
well yea he clearly got caught breaking the rules so only delusional people would say otherwise. they even try to spin it and say well he was just rehydrating(still illegal) cept thats not true obviously since every 30 day weigh in he weighs 150 pounds. he can't drop 3 pounds? please. cheater got away with it because of his money and influence.
floyd was probably roiding in that fight so we don't know how it would turn out in a fair fight. right people who say marg was cheating agaisnt cotto? if floyd got caught against pac he must have been cheating against canelo as well.
Mayweather would beat Canelo the same way. Floyd shut down Canelo completely and I don't think he's improved that much.
And I'm not a fan of catchweights, but people love using that excuse.
no but age could beat mayweather
Floyd acknowledged he's too old in a recent interview. He knows his limits and it looks like he will respect age and stay retired.
How conveniently you forget to explain how Canelo fight night weight was 165 against Floyd when he's normally on 170-175. That's because he had to lose muscle mass to make 152.
Good point man, the 152 definitely had an impact.
Fighters have a lot of difficulty losing the last pound or two so to have to lose an extra few it can have a very significant effect.
Am I the only one who has noticed that Canelo is clearly slower on his feet at 155 than he is at 152? Canelo certainly does seem to have more pop in his punches when he comes in heavier fight night but he is also clearly slower.
If Floyd fought Canelo at 155, yes Canelo would be stronger but he would also be a lot slower. Floyd still beats him.
Not at all man. I dunno if it was the oppostion just had that much better movement than him or what. Even in this last fight he had the better punches, but even Cotto basically escaped away from him and took some rounds, and this is an older Cotto.
This Larry. How soon we forget how Lara made him look at times, and Lara isn't even close to being able to evade and attack at the same level as Mayweather.
For me the way he punches does him no favors. Everything comes with all he has, no real off-speed pitches. The way he was throwing them Mayweather was making him get off balance. If I was him I would work more on speed and work rate. He's never gonna outbox him.

His punch selection is only good against fighters who allow him to set his feet.Floyds upper body movement and counters confused Canelo and shut him down

do you think he could beat floyd at 155 if they fought in 8 weeks and training camp? Im sure you dont so STFU.....excuses are for losers
Canelo was dumb enough to try and outsmart the most adaptable fighter in the game and also the best counter fighter....he was stupid fighting like that...he should have imposed his size....but im sure you wont admit he fought with the dumbest plan ever versus a pure boxer
What size? he wasn't the bigger man in the ring that night
he fights the same way he always does. go watch the cotto fight. did he "impose his size" on cotto? nope
he did what he always does...good head movement....fought in spurts while making his punches count
I see nothing different in his skill, style or performance besides him NOT being in the ring with Floyd

Canelo fought the same way he always does in his last fight. Mayweather is a bad style matchup, it would be the same result. Canelo likes to box on the outside and use his hand speed advantage he usually has, youre never going to outbox mayweather on the outside unless you have a top notch jab and canelo doesnt.
Agreed. Would be like Wright-Mosley II.
fight 2 was way more competitive than fight one...i think i had wright only win by 2-3 rounds where as the first didnt even need a scorecard....wish mosely would have left his dad sooner...that power boxing crap was bull...when He was at lightweight and later on when he got off the weight bench he was looser, lean, and more fluid
