Where is the hype for Shawn Porter vs Keith Thurman?

It's being funneled into #Khanelo, although lord knows it shouldn't be

This is a byproduct of PBC not investing in proper marketing. Instead of the over-inflated salaries, they should invested back into the business to setup for the future. Too many companies just want to make that quick money only to go out of business because they didn't reinvest. People may not like the hype HBO puts on their fighters but that's how you build value. If you don't you can never separate yourself from the pack

They're two friends boxing not two enemies going to war. No Need For It!

Combination of factors why there is little buzz 1. This is not a mega fight neither guy is considered the true champ at 147 it's basically just a good fight with a top 5 ranked welterweight vs a top 6-10 ranked welterweight. It's definitely not a fight to decide who is the best welterweight in the world. Porter already lost to Brook and Thurman hasn't fought anybody. Both are listed behind Manny, Bradley and Brook on most people's welterweight rankings. And neither Thurman/Porter are a big star with a large fanbase. 2. Having sham promoters for Haymon fights has hurt these events. Haymon went from a world class number 1 promoter like Golden Boy to these small 3rd rate promoters who collect a standard fee and have no incentive to do a good job. They don't have any of the fighters signed so they can't speak on future plans for these fighters and PBC/Haymon doesn't talk so it's left up to the fighters and their trainers to try and drum up interest for their fights on their own. 3. Canelo vs Khan almost broke twitter when it was released and has sucked up all the media attention and pushed this fight to the background.

Good fight but I think it sat on the vine a couple months too long and it's hard for people to still get excited for it when it spent so long in negotiations. They were talking about it months ago. Hopefully interest will pick back up soon. also porter is the easiest good WW to beat that is why run time FINALLY chose him after being forced to

Pbc ain't promoting much cuz they broke, mark my words they're not matching up much this year at all lets c if they survive

Attach their names to Khan and see how the buzz would be, the hype/buzz would pick up leading up to the fight.

People has lifes outside boxing and getting too excited about a fight that is still weeks from happening is not good. Personally I prefer to get excited about fights that are happening in the next days and not those that keep me ansious for weeks, because I have to work and study. How do you plan getting excited about anything? Sure, the closer the fights approaches your buzz is increasing, but you don't just wake up on a day of weigh in and say: 'All right, now I can start getting excited'.

I'm super hyped. Hope it's an exciting fight where us boxing fans can be pleased by their performances.

I think it's partly because there's too much respect between Thurman and Porter, they are too buddy-buddy when they're together, so it's Kenny doing all the talking if you know what I mean. Also, it's a 50-50 fight in many people's eyes whereas a lot of people see Khan as the prohibitive underdog which makes the Canelo fight a much more exciting prospect on paper to see if Khan can overcome those odds. But I'm looking forward to Thurman/Porter, should be a good scrap as long as they don't make it overly respectful like Pac vs Mosley, touching gloves every few rounds and it then turns into almost a glorified sparring session. See, that's the problem, you sense there's a risk something like that might happen. If there was a genuine grudge there then this fight would be blowing up big.

Oddly I think there was more hype about this fight before it was signed. Now that its signed, no one really cares but there has been a couple big announcements since it was made so maybe in a couple weeks things will reignite.

This is the best fight signed for the 1st qtr of 2016. I would like to see a press event for this. I would like to see CBS advertise during some of their bigger shows once we get to March. Given what I've been reading, this might be a make or break fight for Haymon/PBC/SHowtime.

Fight doesn't need hype. It's a fight that should happen and shouldn't be treated as a gift to the fans. Fights like Thurman/Porter should be happening regularly but instead they marinate too long and are being built up as mini-super fights when they aren't.

Alvarez/Khan pretty much gobbled all the attention of the boxing world. As the fight gets closer, people will start talking about Thurman/Porter again.

There won't be any until close to the fight. Like we said at the outset, they're contenders not proven top dogs. Porter has already fought Brook so it's not even a step-up fight for him. And people already have a good sense of where his ceiling is. The real appeal of this fight is seeing how real Keith Thurman is. Or isn't.

Disagree with you about Danny. Garcia has done good number on HBO, Showtime, NBC, ESPN & now FOX. Garcia has a strong fan base and his ratings back it up Yeah you're right, it's wrong to say that nobody cares about Garcia I suppose, he's the only one that has any chance of cross over appeal. But where are his talk show appearances? Where are his deals?
