How would canelo vs peak sergio martinez look at mw?

I thought Sergio was near his best entering the Macklin fight. Last legs would be any fight after Chavez. maybe im confusing macklin with Murray time wise....just checked it out....they were right before chavez...my bad

The sergio martinez that knocked out paul williams lets say canelo was in the ring that night instead, who wins? Martinez cuts him up for 12 rounds but Canelo gets the decision. :poke:

Martinez would outbox and outwork Canelo. Canelo would gas out by the mid-rounds just trying to keep with Martinez's footwork. It's a shame Martinez got old and his legs gave out. But if he didn't age then Cotto would have never fought him, and Canelo probably wouldn't either, unless at 155.

I like that version of Sergio to pull out a 8-4 9-3 type of decision. Canelo has the power to hurt and stop Martinez but I don't think he could land anything significant on a prime Martinez, and I will tell you I am not the biggest fan of Martinez, I think he was a bit overrated at times. But he had too much movement and speed for Canelo, and his power always kept fighters honest, you couldn't just walk him down because he carried concussive power, I think that was his x factor actually.

Canelo would get bust up by Maravilla in his prime Maravilla had good wheels, good speed and power, heart and a good chin His style is all wrong for canelo and Sergio knew how to get you out of there when you were hurt Canelo is a natural counterpuncher and all his fights with top southpaws have been close Maravilla is a better fighter Lara and Trout imo and more dangerous Green K sent

I would just like to remind people that Sergio did struggle with both Matthew Macklin and Darren Barker who boxed. I think it's a terrific fight. he was on his last legs by then....literally

I like that fight. Martinez was often knocked down, so i could see him touching the canvas. Overall though, i think Martinez would be slick and cute for Canelo. I'd pick Martinez.
