Why is Khan being called a warrior for fighting Canelo?

Floyd is retired, who cares about him? Amir Khan is a ****ing man, he may have asked for a catch weight but even after it being shot down he went on with the fight. Know why? Cause he's chasing greatness.

Before the fight it was "floyd is too old, canelo too big and too strong". After the fight "canelo to young and green". floyd was a favorite in that fight... boxing pundits were picking him to beat canelo on points, which is exactly what the vegas lines reflected. canelo is a cautious fighter, and really much more of a boxer than the brawler / slugger that the media tried to make him out to be. i expected him to try and box with floyd to move him to the ropes, and get outpointed. that's exactly what happened. that wasn't a hard fight to handicap, really. i won some money betting the favorite, and the line at the MGM was out the door for people collecting "that mayweather money." i waited with a group of black dudes who got a kick out of me being what they thought was the only white dude who wanted floyd to win.

Because he is going up to 155 having never fought above 147 knowing he got starched at lower weights by lesser punchers than Canelo, that's why. Having said that, after seeing comments in this thread, it seems people have short term memory. It was this board going crazy saying Floyd would never fight Canelo. While I do agree that the catchweight was dumb let's not act as if Canelo struggled to make weight, he looked fine in the ring but had the wrong strategy and played into Floyd's hands. Let's not also forget he hit 153 for his previous fight on the scales. Canelo wasn't green for the Floyd fight, you aren't green with over 40 fights, he just didn't know what to do against the best boxer in the game. If that's the case pretty much everyone who faces Floyd is green because they have never fought anyone on his level.

The facts of the Floyd v Canelo match up: Floyd was already a champion at the weight, having won the WBC and WBA titles against Oscar and Cotto respectively, AT the divisional limit of 154lb, so why then was Canelo asked to come down in weight? How many times before have the champions in the SAME division fought at a catch weight? Canelo was only 22/23, with his best win being Austin Trout. Now Canelo has compiled a record including Cotto and Lara. Canelo is now almost 26 and has reached his physical peak, especially at his most comfortable weight of 155lb. Khan has never fought higher than welterweight and is yet to win a full world title at 147lb. Khan has been knocked out buy guys who weight 20lb or less on fight night than Canelo. Khan knows there is a danger of being seriously, permanently hurt against such a big fighter but is willing to take the risk. Khan has not asked or received any re-hydration clauses or a catch weight of his choice. Do you see the differences?
